So you how to explain Chinese scientist saying it has HIV/AIDS components and the part about it being treated with HIV/AIDS meds. Ok.

Ok. Indian scientist needed more scientific scrutiny, but now Chinese scientists are supporting the Indians' "voluntary retracted" original conclusion.

I agree with you it's important to have scientific analysis that is checked and re-checked, so proper information is getting out there.

That's why we having this open dialogue and I hope it stays this way.

I already replied to the medication thing - antiretrovirals can be very broad spectrum, just like antibiotics, and using HIV meds to treat completely unrelated viruses is nothing new.

So far as the Chinese quote, it was from a DOCTOR, not a scientist, as was about the effect of the virus on the body, not the composition of the virus.

The influence of COVID-19 on the human body is like a combination of SARS and AIDS as it damages both the lungs and immune systems,” Peng Zhiyong, director of the intensive care unit of the Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University in Wuhan, told the Global Times.

Dr Peng was commenting on the paper by Liu Liang, a forensic specialist from the Tongji Medical College at Huazhong University of Science and Technology, whose team had conducted nine autopsies of coronavirus patients as of February 24.

“The autopsy results Liu shared inspired me a lot. Based on the results, I think the most important thing now is to take measures at an early stage of the disease to protect patients’ lungs from irreversible fibrosis,” Dr Peng told the outlet.

He's merely speaking to the fact that the virus hurts both your respiratory and immune systems, he's not talking about the composition of the virus and obviously COVID-19 doesn't affect your immune systems to remotely the degree that HIV does as most people are recovering within a few weeks on their own while HIV just destroys your entire immune system such that you never recover. He was being a bit sensational in his wording, but it bears repeating that he's a doctor who runs a hospital, not a scientist looking at the makeup of the virus.

I think that's way too big an assumption for now. If the people who follow the markets really really believed that the drops would have been even bigger already. We still don't know exactly how this is all going to play out.

i have a huge position on CCL and WYNN and i'm taking a beating badly. :mjcry:

i just want this thing to end very fast for the mankind and for my portfolio even it leads to a trump's victory. :stopitslime:

To summarize, the connections between COVID-19 and HIV-1 are so spurious that it's like someone pointed out to you that Zion and Lonzo both play for the New Orleans Pelicans, share 2 letters in their first name, and struggle from the free throw line, and then concluding that they must have the same father.

“Possibly irreversible lung damage even if you recover”
Coronavirus ‘like a combination of SARS and AIDS’

And, it appears to cause brain swelling that damages your nervous system:
“Beijing Ditan Hospital in Beijing has meanwhile found that a patient who tested positive for has suffered viral encephalitis caused by the coronavirus, adding to evidence the infections can cause damage to patients’ nervous systems."

I'm freaked out brews :damn:

What you're not gonna let the market fix this......
corrected for accuracy
Im including that...:mjcry:
Its too late man...
Had the market been free we would have known about it much sooner and been able to prepare, instead government suppressed it and hid it. Now the world is fukked.

:mjcry:I'm not even sure what can be done at this point...
Cat's out of the bag man. We gotta watch it play out. IMO the U.S. should be doing way more to encourage people to stay inside, jobs that allow people to work from home should do so. People over 55-60 especially should stay inside as much as possible. Large gatherings for sports and entertainment should consider postponing, etc.

China has shown that containment works. We don't have that type of culture over here, and we aren't authoritarian enough to be able to realistically pull it off. But it does seem to be helping things there.

We could start with the very basics and have a universal healthcare system that can test people who'd otherwise avoid going to the doctor to avoid outrageous medical expenses.

We could also NOT defund public health efforts

We could also make the vaccine (once its made) affordable or free to the public
I mean globally, this shyt is going to 'cull the weak' in every country. :mjcry:
Ironically the countries suffering the most have universal coverage... not sure thats the silver bullet you think it is.

I saw another one today that gave me the same thought.

"We're getting to the point where the reaction to the virus may be worse than the virus itself," said Nicholas Calio of Airlines for America.

Aviation industry feeling 'gut punch' from coronavirus, executives say - CNNPolitics

Yeah, people not flying as much for a few weeks is worse than thousands of deaths. :snoop:
Nicholas Calio is fukking stupid. If anything I feel like those of us in this thread, as well as a couple of scientist friends of mine are the only people taking this serious enough. I got friends going to areas where they have confirmed cases to go to big ass musical festivals this weekend. I have another friend that said he takes lion's mane so he doesn't think he's able to catch it.

People are fukking dumb and don't want their normal lives to be disrupted. People don't want to be scared. I get that. But at least have some healthy respect for this shyt, and even if you are young with a healthy immune system, think about being more considerate to your fellow citizens that are older and/or more susceptible to the dangers that come with this virus.

dow might fall 3k points today

A friend of mine posted something about coronavirus back in February right after the stocks first took a hit, and some friend of his who apparently is a stock trader was bragging about how he was going to make a killing buying on the low. I got on his ass about how we were talking about people dying and he was bragging about profits. To his credit he was apologetic. Two days later after the comeback, he made a sort of snarky reply comment saying that because of our conversation he hadn't made any buys and thus had missed the recovery.

I might have saved his portfolio. :picard:

I got like a 70k 401k at a company i used to be at can't even adjust it if i wanted too :dead: ain't like it matters but the mail i get for the losses is going to be :picard::russ:

Yeah, always helps to remember that unless you're in your 50s those year-to-year changes in retirement accounts are almost irrelevant. Look at 2008.

Yeah even at 42 I'm not overall concerned. The market usually bears out positive long term for those types of investments.
