the ether

I know folk there, don't know what this specific Belgian is doing but fake orphanages are rampant. And what the U.N. did in the cholera episode is reprehensible.

On that same note, Cuba has partnered to work with Haiti on a number of health initiatives including training Haitians as doctors. The sort of shyt that no one will ever read in the news.

Has to be a bit more nuanced than that. If they just roll with "release our elders" then Epstein/Weinstein types would be the first in line.

And if you want to see something really depressing:

A new model suggests that even in best case scenario (including some weather suppression of the disease), India may face 1 million people requiring hospitalization simultaneously at the peak.

Talking about needing 700,000 to 1,000,000 ventilators to control that peak. Currently India has less than 50,000 ventilators.

Not joking, what critical part do the ventilators play...if they're just saying stay at home? For advanced cases, im guessing?

Those ventilator numbers ARE for the advanced cases. The stay-at-home cases could be over 100 million at the peak.

One of the primary ways COVID-19 kills is by destroying the interior lung membrane and immune system to the point that pneumonia sets in and the lungs cease to function. People stop breathing and die before their bodies and treatment have time to fight the attack off. But if you have a ventilator to put them on that will force them to keep breathing through that critical time, you can save around 30-50% of the most critical cases. If you lack those ventilators, the death rate might double from what it would be otherwise.

Hey I like most of you posters in here, but man A LOT of yall are acting like bytches.

This isn't the thread to bring your bernie vs Biden in. It's not the thread to repeatedly shyt on dems, it's not the thread to argue the efficacy of the free vs regulated market. shyt its not even the thread to shyt on trump (well accept it though).

Something about being online, makes people say stuff theyd NEVER say in real life, especially when it comes to banter.

So please please rid this thread of all of your personal bytch made arguments. It makes it hard to read and get critical info from. Also, why arent Twitter links working on mobile?

The death rate is slowly increasing. It was 1.3%, 1.5% (past 5 days), and now 1.8%

Today death rate is 2.6% for:

new cases/new deaths
How do the numbers change if you remove New York?

Sorry NYers tryna be realistic. Stay safe.

Pelosi: Trump inaction cost American lives

Nancy Pelosi, the top Democrat in Congress, has just delivered a devastating critique of Donald Trump on CNN’s State of the Union, accusing him directly of costing American lives through his constant denials and delays.

“The president’s denial at the beginning was deadly,” she said. “His delay in getting equipment to where it’s needed is deadly … As the president fiddles, people are dying.”

Asked by host Jake Tapper if she was saying Trump’s early downplaying of the severity of the coronavirus crisis “cost American lives” Pelosi replied: “Yes I am. I’m saying that.”

She said that after the crisis was over, there would need to be an investigation into Trump’s handling of the pandemic.

“What did he know?” Pelosi asked. “When did he know it?”

But for now it was a question of making sure he stopped failing to act.

“We still don’t have adequate testing,” Pelosi said, “and we still don’t have protective equipment for our health workers who are risking their own lives to save lives.”

Pelosi ended on this note: “Don’t fiddle while people die, Mr President.”

Such a direct accusation is certain to inflame Trump. Expect fireworks later.
:ehh:
