At the peak probably but I doubt it was the daily average of the Omicron wave.
Anyway most of the deaths are unvaxxed and to be honest, I don't care about them dying any more. They made their bed :manny:

I agree on acute phase...

Afterwards, are you worried about the long term effects?
They are cumulative with each infection...

So while one mild infection is not important...
getting infected possibly every two months for several years will damage your immune system, brain, lungs, heart, kidneys, testicles... and I may even be forgetting something...

We have to keep masking not for the acute fear of death, but to try to skip a variant...
In Italy we managed to skip delta peak with masking and boostering.
Delta was increasing only in late November, when omicron took over...
We basically skipped a variant, and I'm really proud of Italy for that...

I'm triple vaxxed and keep my mask on indoors so I try to maximize my protection myself. At this point, 2 years in the pandemic, we won't convince anybody.

Italy, France and Spain did well indeed but I think it's because we were hit hard by the first wave which kinda put the fear of the virus in the populations

In comparison, eastern euro countries like Hungary or Bosnia had very low cases in the first two waves yet end up with worse deaths per capita numbers ultimately.
