I've been trying to tell people for months about this dumb bytch. :hhh:

Leana Wen is :trash:.

In about a month, we'll reach the two year mark of the pandemic being rampant in America(lockdowns, cancellation of NBA season). After nearly two years, when do we end the pandemic and deal w/ covid as an endemic(covid will likely never go away btw)?

In my city of NY, you can get vaccines w/ ease, and the city offers same day delivery for the Pfizer pill(Paxlovid). Why should we be in a state of emergency, when there are vaccines; sotrovimab monoclonal antibodies, and Pfizer pills available which all greatly reduce risk of hospitalization/death. Should we be scared of catching covid, when medical experts across the board(including Fauci) agree that most of us will likely get covid?

ITs a pandemic, not a New York City-demic.

That means global. We haven't vaccinated the globe and new variants pop up damn near every day and spread.

If we had a real global vaccine plan and could get most of the globe vaccinated, I would feel fine with changing the terms of this. Unfortunately, no one seems interested in doing that and instead, we are constantly reacting.

Viruses mutate and we can't vaccinate our way out of covid(WHO said in December '20 that vaccination is no guarantee of virus eradication) :hubie:

The reasons we haven't vaccinated the globe, is because Pfizer is deliberately withholding vaccines from poor countries. Should America wait on Pfizer to be more charitable and care less about their profit margins?

As far as the doomsday of scenario of a ultra deadly variant, we can deal w/ if it comes. For now, there's a ultra mild strain(Omicron), and we have a myriad of tools to protect you from severe illness if you get that strain(vaccines, sotrovimab, Pfizer pill). If you don't think this country can quickly adjust if a deadly variant arises, then bear in mind that this game below happened. Within a week of that packed crowd at Staples Center, America radically did an about face(Gobert gets covid, NBA shuts season down, we go in lockdowns).

Good thing I never said we would eradicate the virus through vaccines either.

All I said is we need to get to the point of endemic before we call it that. The WHO hasn't even declared it that. You can't decide the GLOBAL pandemic is over because New York Cityers believe that we are somewhat, sorta past it.

We could actually force Pfizer and Moderna to open the IP up and ship the materials to nations around the world. THe US doesn't dot hat because the US doesn't give a fukk. But when a new, and possibly dangerous variant pops up, we can't just say 'ban all nations from this region,' like Biden did with omnicron. Its time to be proactive and they haven't done that.

:what:

We haven't even dealt with omicron. :dead:

:what:

WE didn't even deal with omicron. :dead:

1. In America, the pandemic should be over. Vaccines are widely available and have been since at least Summer '21. Fauci of all people has already said most of us will get it. If it's known and established that we will likely get covid, why should Americans fear covid if they have vaccines and additional tools(sotrovimab and Pfizer pill) to greatly reduce the severities of covid?

2. I'm w/ you on that, but even if they don't, we shouldn't fear covid because us Americans are good(see point 1).

3. Biden fukked up the testing, but he made vaccines widely available and got 2/3 of the pop vaxed. I don't like Biden, but I gotta give him credit for actually doing some of the things he promised(made vaccines available and got alot of ppl vaxed). :hubie:

It’s not though

You think a virus can sense if you are afraid or courageous? That attitude is why Trump failed and Biden is currently failing. This isn’t Al Queda flying a plane into the World Trade Tower. We can’t drone strike a virus out of existence. We can’t assassinate it. We got to actually work together for this to pass. Americans don’t seem willing to do that, especially our elected leaders.

Biden fukked up the testing, but he made vaccines widely available and got 2/3 of the pop vaxed.
The big problem is Biden only thought vaccines would do it. Like you agreed, vaccines won’t eradicate this. He had no plan outside of vaccines.

Other then making the treatments(Pfizer pill, vaccines, monoclonals) and basic health efforts to improve your immune system(vitamins c and d, zinc, getting in shape) known to everyday Americans, there's not much else we can do. The biggest issue we have is fully if not 3x vaxxed ppl in a constant state of fear, when they're greatly protected against death/going to the hospital. I know you're banking on this doomsday variant to happen, but it's not here, and the current strain of Omicron amounts to a cold(symptoms are headache, sore throat, stuffed nose, fatigue). Time for people to live their lives :hubie:

Most of us get covid, no matter what we do(masks, social distancing, vaccines, etc). Thankfully if you do get covid now, it'll be a weak strain(Omicron is the dominant strain rn), and there a myriad of medical tools to reduce your chances of severe illness(vaccines, monoclonals, Pfizer pill).
