Seems like this is quickly spiraling out of control. Who could have imagined this...

This is a societal failure. Like health care, I don't even know why anyone would want to be a teacher in this country. They aren't paid nearly enough; funding is always getting cut; they're asked to do a million things beyond the core job description, which is teach; they get blamed for any problems.

We should have been taking steps to develop curriculum for remote learning. There is no end in sight for this pandemic and it's only a matter of time before we get more variants, which will upend our vaccines like Omicron.

1. Be better than to present anecdotal evidence

2. Go back to any of my posts and you'll see I always stipulate that I'm less concerned with remote learning for high schoolers. The content is less hands on and the kids have higher emotional/mental stamina and are FAR less likely to follow rules about distance/masks - some of which is unavoidable bc of nature of high school (frequent changing of classrooms etc). A high schooler forced to do remote learning is also less likely to present challenges to parents unable to work from home.

Even still the shyt the students is talking about reflect more on 1) staffing shortages due to the rules surrounding positive tests/close contacts and 2) the disparity between vaccination rates between high schools/districts.
