You don't need to obsess over it but you should start thinking about it a little bit, because it's likely in your community already, or at least close by.
He used a lot of scientific mumbo jumbo too, but it boiled down to him saying that a lot of people are going to get sick and a lot of people are going to die. He said he thinks it could easily be the largest American tragedy since World War 2. He said even if you don't die that you do NOT want to get sick. Even though a lot of younger and healthy people have incredibly mild symptoms, he said bad symptoms feel like you're drowning or suffocating to death. So he said don't resign yourself to getting it, and to do everything you can to not (within reason). Washing hands thoroughly (he said most people don't was their hands well even when they do), etc. Stay away from crowds, and start social distancing. Do things to ease the burden on the health care system.
He said when we start running sort of beds 2 hospital beds per every 1,000 citizens that is when shyt will really hit the fan and mortality rates will increase here in the U.S. He said China even has 4-5 hospital beds per every 1,000 citizens. He said with low testing kits here that the virus is likely to spread a lot more, and again, to imagine a large percentage of people you know getting sick and then 3-5% of those people dying. he said by the end of this year we will all know someone close to us, or at least have a friend/family member of a friend that will have died or been seriously effected by this.
It was a sobering conversation. He was furious at Trump and he said he and the administration have severely hurt their ability to netter prepare and fight against the threat.
Be safe friend! It's going to be a trying year, but we will all get through this.
