Dr. West is just disappointed in the fact that Obama is a run of the mill politician. I think Cornell wanted an Obama that fought for what's right in his first term regardless of whether it cost him re-election (which was actually something Obama said himself) and the reality of an everyday common craven pol who only cared about re-election and his legacy butts up against the idea Dr. west had of what Obama could/should have been.i agree and disagree with some of what he says.
the main issue i have with cornell is he comes off all high and mighty at times like what he says is the standard for how people should be judged. according to him obama can fix all things with the wave of a wand. like he doesn't understand how congress or the military complex works. and because obama can't or hasn't fixed some of these issues in the time frame cornell wants it to be done then he ain't worth sh1t. everyone is a hypocrite to some extent so let's get that out of the way.
of course we should hold obama accountable, as we should all leaders and organizations black america is devoted to. i'm ok with that. but i disagree that we should throw the baby out with the bathwater as cornell would have it. obama can't relate to us and say positive things and try to motivate our people to be better and do what's right...because he's not perfect?? foh. brother.

i think a lot of people had a utopian view of what type of prez they wanted obama to be. seems people forgot about the sh1t show he inherited, the slow economic recovery and perhaps sabotage, the midterm elections and the tea party obstructionists, his own mistakes and just the day to day responsibility of being potus. i think it's naive to expect the first minority president to be a minority activist. an advocator, yes, which obama has been. but an activist, not realistic.
the good dr went scorched earth after potus approached him during a national urban something meeting and inquired...i paraphrase, "what is this shyt about me being a black puppet for wall street?" and everyone was aghast that the potus had cursed at the good dr.
also its the typical crabs in a barrel mentality that affects black people of all social standing...see rev jackson's comments about squeezing future potus huevos because, who does he think he is, running for potus?
What can Obama do without help from his party. He wanted to do more but the blue dog dems got cold feet. Then they lost the house.Dr. West is just disappointed in the fact that Obama is a run of the mill politician.
