XBMC in one room, roku or Amazon fire in the other two rooms. As long as you have a fast connection you can stream a ton of shyt, just put parental locks on whatever they'll be using.
Get a box for each TV.

My main TV has a Fire TV with xbmc loaded. I'm watching the pregame now using the ustvnow plugin. Flawless network TV. No need airplay from the NFL app like I usually do since all the playoffs are national.

My daughter is in the play room watching Princess and the Frog via a local media player (I have over 2,000 movies and over 100 tv series on my hard drive).

My bedroom has another local player but I'm about to get another Fire TV for that because that shyt is so piff. Then I'll put the media player from my bedroom in the living.

So by next week I should have:

1) Fire TV, which features xbmc, show box, and airplay capability (as well as Netflix, Prime, Hulu and all those subscriptions that are now obsolete :mjlol:) and a local media player with all the piff previously mentioned in my living room

2) Fire TV in the bedroom

3) Media player with all the kids' stuff in the play room

We watch whatever we want, whenever we want. And for free. You couldn't pay me to swap this setup for cable.

I don't believe nothing you guys are saying. Ill dap you both and even give rep, but its a bunch of bullshyt.

You sound like my friend who I was talking with today about how I survive without cable. Its a little work to get it set up, but once it is :blessed:

I actually prefer this to having cable.

The Fire TV (Not the stick) runs it just fine, at this point I'd build a NAS box to store stuff on rather than a HTPC. The frontend stuff on Roku & FireTV are really nice, and the fact the Amazon can sideload Kodi makes it really dope.

What is the benefit of a NAS vs just putting extra harddrives in your computer? I'm struggling with this.

Accessibility from different devices which works hand in hand with sharing/transferring data over your network very easily, you can automate your backups via your server, & the storage space is crazy depending on what drive size you want.

Just started really playing with the Xbox One's capabilities & found a few sites you can stream directly from the console & watch tv shows & movies in HD quality. I also discovered you can stream .mkv files through the console now. Read up on it & tested it last night & it worked very well.
Might need you to put me on to this breh

Technically your PC would basically be a NAS box if you're using it like that, but for me a NAS is just about being simple and having everything in a centralized location that's on 24/7. Sometimes my computer is off and I want to stream something from my collection, I'm too lazy to get up and turn it on :russ:

You traveling a lot, a NAS would be cool since it's on 24/7 and you can stream off them as long as you have internet service where you are.

For me, Netflix subscription, UFC subscription, Roku 3, and HTPC running XBMC. Gonna buy an antenna and use it for OTA broadcasts so I can at least watch sports.

firestick and local hd antenna. I think that's the cheapest and best for cord cutters. The firestick is all you need, actually.

You right....most smart TVs have DLNA built in. My big screen TV picks up Kodi/XBMC too. Totally forgot.

The Lifestyle indeed :king:

I still wanna do a projector for the basement, but I don't think they do Smart Projectors...... or do they? :patrice:

forgot you had a smart TV.

I think you are limited to sharing just files through XBMC/Kodi to your TV. Not watching the Kodi channels. You don't really need XBMC for that. Simple file sharing on your home network using windows media, your phone, etc does that just fine as your TV will pick those file sharing folders up.

In order to XBMC directly on your TV without attaching a laptop to it, use the Fire TV Stick.
