I want to be sympathetic to my friends. I get it. We were sheltered. We were the smart kids, the best and the brightest. Many of us have college degrees and are getting advanced degrees. We were taught our whole lives to go to college and get good careers. We know people of difference races, have them as friends and lovers. Many of us have experienced police prejudice, many of us have lost friends to violence. But the important thing as that we were expected to go out into the white man's world and that it was supposed to be fair and if we did this and that we would be okay. That was instilled into us. Fighting wasn't instilled into us, so I get it. But how much more has to happen before we realize that sitting still and expecting voting and praying and whatnot to be the only things we have to do to get some respect in this country? They will never respect us. That's the truth. 400+ years and they have not ever respected us. They tore us apart. They turned us against each other. They have no respect for our humanity. So miss me with the rah rah I just want to live, why can't we get along narrative, because I guarantee you that no matter how good of friends you are with a non-Black person they will not trade places with you ever in life. A cop will not ever thank you for not committing a crime.
