Bev is more useful than Westbrook, imo. Bev atleast plays a role that can function on any team, this game just reinforces to me that they could be a legitimate playoff team if they traded Russ. When Bron and AD are back there isn't gonna be enough usage to go around, wouldn't you rather Schroeder get those secondary ball-handler minutes instead of Russ? If they were able to turn Russ and a 1st into say, Bojan and Burks, this team could be an offensive juggernaut when healthy. You also get a legitimately deep rotation with 10-11 guys with diverse skillsets. Russ is just redundant on this team when he's arguably not even better than Schroeder on a minimum.
I see what you're trying to say, it's just not going to go over well on this site.
Beverly is great to have as a defensive guy, and a dude that will hit the occasional 3, and you turn Russ into Bojan which frees up Schroder as the go-to guard.
In reality, Beverly has almost always been a negative this entire season, and Russ has given us life off the bench, turning Bryant into a legit starting center.
We're in a Schrödinger's Cat situation, where if we lose Russ, we lose backup assists to bigs but gain shooting (which potentially ends up evening out, and not improving the roster) or we keep Russ, get no shooters and potentially end up with boneheaded plays that cost us valuable games, or worse, a game in the playoffs.
The best of both worlds is to get a guy like Bojan without losing Russ, and limiting Russ' opportunities to fukk us by potentially benching him in critical situations. Schroder has proven he should be the closing guard. He can shoot, get to the basket with ease and is a 90% free throw shooter, which is exactly what you need in close game situations. The Lakers are ALWAYS in close game situations.
