Lakers from 1980-2010 had a god tier run. That run wasn't going to last forever.

The downturn was inevitable, hopefully Jeannie gets it on track.

It's just sad that some Lakers fans would rather some soulless billionaire own the team, rather than remain family owned.

Legacy and tradition really don't matter these days.
I don't think people have a problem with her owning the team, but she has a terrible system with the upper management. The FO under her have wasted assets like no tomorrow.

:unimpressed: THEN HES A bytch ASS COKEHEAD FOLDING UNDER PRESSURE.
he should’ve let go of Bynum when he could’ve for Melo from the Nuggets.

they were both terrible but my point was that i rather have him. wtf has jeanie done? she fell into a lebron and ad duo and all she has to show for it is a bubble ring. if the rumors are true, then she's the reason why a hield/turner deal hasn't been made. the only difference between her and jim is luck and timing.

jim letting his cokehead bartender scout make decisions > linda rambis making decisions over cocktails

to be fair i completely agree with not doing the hield/turner deal for that very reason. i actually applaud her for it. im just saying people complain about the deal not being made, lebron complains(indirectly) about the deal not being made, that was her call. either way, they're both terrible. i don't have the desire to defend him over her. we would be in a better position if neither one was owner and i don't think that's debatable.

Jeanie's big mistake was signing off on LeBron James and Klutch and all that comes with it.

She got a ring out of it and not much else. She would have gotten crucified if she didn't sign LeBron; it was a no win situation for her.

She's doing the right thing by letting things play out and not giving up further assets

I don't think her biggest mistake was getting Lebron. Her biggest mistake was letting Lebron run the team. She basically let Klutch made every move which tbh doesn't happen with a male owner if we keeping it real. they bullied her and now she's paying the price. also she doubled down and re-signed bron and delayed the eventual rebuild.

Nothing wrong with getting Bron, even the AD trade was okay. It got us a championship. My issue is the Magic hiring and all the terrible moves he made and then wasting more assets with Pelinka. This is probably the first time they have been patient and playing it smart, although that shyt can change any day. I don't have much faith because they have not shown it. Like right now you are hearing rumors about wanting to trade for Kuzma, after you gave him up..shyt like that is just bad management of assets :snoop:

Lol her big mistake was saying yes to bringing in Lebron who eventually brought ring #17?... I find it hilarious how people pretend like the Lakers brass didn't also want Russ lol.

Y'all nikkas do recognize that they told LeBron "No" numerous times in his tenure.. Caruso, Tye Lue, DeRozan, Dudley. But suddenly LeBron has so much power that he's forcing them to bring him in lmao

It's honestly hilarious how some of y'all still go with this narrative and pretend that the front office wasn't FULLY onboard and invested in that decision. They've made it very known by reports and actual examples they don't allow LeBron to run the franchise

I'll play devil advocate: Lakers and Jeanie were in a weak position when LeBron started to signal interest. He knew he could have an outsized say in team matters because the Lakers were so horrible for so long.

What's the story on this? I was under the impression the team choosing to pay THT killed the chances of Caruso re-signing. Especially when they were lowballing him with the offers they did make.

It did, they'd essentially have to pay dollar for dollar his contract in salary tax. So keeping him at 10 mil per year would cost 20 mil. Now I think we all believe they should be willing to pay, but breh just going to gloss over signing an unproven Klutch plant over a proven contributor. They knew it was one or the other
