I'll always have a degree of attachment to Portland because that was the first team I was a fan of (in ANY sport), but 90% of that is historical and nostalgia. What I'm most interested in as a grown adult is good basketball, not just arbitrarily following a corporation trying to make money off of me. And so yeah, my enjoyment of how LeBron plays basketball overrides the ugly purple and yellow colors he happens to be wearing while he does it.


Sure, I think it's a lot more logical to enjoy how a particular player plays the game more than you enjoy arbitrarily rooting for a collection of players that some particular old white family has chosen to pay. But I won't force you to enjoy basketball my way. You just look corny when you talk as if your way is the only way, just because you follow the other sheep in that direction who have always done it.

You're invested in Bron doing well. That's the only thing. Nothing else. And it's not as if Bron has even been playing good basketball in this series, yet that still hasn't stopped you from deflecting blame from him onto other players. I wouldn't say we were right there.

Game 1: We were getting our ass beat for the majority of the game until the comeback at the end

Game 2: We had control and then we didn't and were down double digits until another comeback at the end

Game 3: We were never in control, we were down the entire game. We probably had the lead for less a min combined the entire game and we lost by double digits.

Nuggets may not be WAY better but they're still a few tiers above us. It's all about matchups at the end of the day and this was a bad matchup.

Bruce Brown has basically been the difference in this series. He’s made every timely play in every single game. And KCP… was PCP status back in 21. He’s been killing them all series long.

If those role guys weren’t so good it’s easily a 2-1 series LA.

And that’s saying a lot seeing as Bron and AD have been thoroughly outplayed by Murray and Jokic and the games have still have come down to the final 3 mins..

I'll never blame role players in a series where our 2 best players have been getting thoroughly outplayed by the Nuggets 2 best players. This isn't the 2018 Cavs where Bron had to put the team on his back and was getting let down. This isn't even the pre Westbrook trade Lakers in which Bron was averaging 30+ and we were getting blown out. You can easily say if Bron and AD were even good and not great, they would be up 2-1. Game 1, Bron punted the end of the game. Game 2, AD didn't show up. Game 3, Bron didn't show up and AD wasn't much of a factor beyond the first half.

There was NO mass migration of supporters from the Bulls to the Wiz, or from the Pats to the Bucs, etc etc. Obviously the fans of the player are going to want to see him do well on whatever team is on but there was nothing like what we see from Bron fan behavior and its not even close and the fact you're trying to make this case is hilarious.

Like I said, there is NO Messi fans telling PSG fans they arent real fans. There is NO widespread media/internet forum culture of Brady fans lecturing Bucs fans and questioning their fanhood of their hometown team if they dont ride Brady's nuts. Hell, you can look at see the yearly team rankings they do. In the 2010s, the Lakers were the most popular team in all of Europe. Now they're not the most popular team in any European country - it's the Warriors, Bucks, Bulls, Mavs, and Nuggets. Kobe retired just 6 years ago, do you really think all his fans died that quick? A bunch of them clearly switched teams.

There's even posters on this forum who straight up say, "I was a Kobestan but..." and are rooting for other teams/players now.
