Still haven't gotten around to listening, want to be able to pay attention. Not looking forward to Dave East and Jim Jones :francis:

Nothing great but a few songs that differ from the normal formula that were good. The Jim Jones Dave East track was much better than I expected.

I agree. It reminds me a lot of Overdose. That’s another lazier sounding loop than Conway pocked from Al.

.

*gasps* thats one of my fav ALC/GxFR collabs, idk why i just love that loop and hes spittin crazy on it

this is dope, Hawks and Black Spoons are my favs. the Al and Daringer joints are pretty standard but i fukk with em

After a few spins, this joint is just alright. I'll take No Women & Kids, Tito's Back and yall can keep the rest. No way in the world am I trying to hear trap Conway or single mother anthems from this nikka :mjlol:

Black Spoons makes a better instrumental interlude than song

I agree with all the comments about the beats. Conway is definitely my favorite rapper in Griselda but this whole "75% of the project with no drums" shyt is a detriment to his career imo.

I know that's the Griselda style but still. Makes alot of his music have little replayability.

Side note but my dream project from him would be a collab album with Khrysis or Apollo Brown.

I think I agree.

It seems kind of silly to get into the weeds and really argue about something as silly as whether drums are harder or lighter, but IMO there truly is an art to light drum or no drum beats. I think it's very important on projects to use them sparingly and in the right places. I've only really been able to rock with 2 albums that have light drums on the majority of them, and that's Reloaded by Roc Marci and Grief Pedigree by Ka. And even then I can't just throw those albums on at any time.

Drums are almost fundamental to hip-hop for me. I can appreciate experimental shyt, and I also fully recognize that light drums are sort of the wave and the hot sound of the moment when it comes to indie east coast rap...largely because of albums like Reloaded and Grief Pedigree...but still, when it comes to replayability and in me being able to play something at any given moment without having to be in the mood first, I prefer albums like Tana Talk 3 where there's drums all over it.

I do like this new Conway project but only 1 of the first 4 or 5 joints on it having drums does seem excessive to me. WSG picks a lot of drumless beats to, but Flygod and Supreme Blientelle only have a few each (ie. Mr. T, Elizabeth, and Spanish Jesus), and they're also spaced out well and don't all run back to back.

RZA is the king of drumless beats to me and he always made sure on albums like Liquid Swords, Purple Tape, and Ironman to space them out and not put them all in a row. Like...Daytona 500 has super quiet drums but it's got Camay and Motherless Child on each side of it.

EDIT: since we're talking drumless joints and Khrysis he does have a couple I fukk with. This was my shyt.
