I think most well-rounded hip-hop heads will probably have this in his top 3. I can see a portion of the Griselda fan base still insisting that the top 3 for Conway are Reject 2, GOAT, Black Tape, and the other projects that are entirely or almost entirely produced by Daringer. This is fire. Still early but Top 3 Conway project?
I think it's kind of a no-brainer. I think King to a God and this are his most well-rounded projects, and they are his 2 projects that have the most for everyone. I think King to a God and La Maquina are like 2 sides of the same coin. If I'm in the mood for cleaner, modern production, I'd listen to Maquina. If I'm in the mood for more boom-bap, I'd listen to King.
But these 2 projects definitely have the highest level of bars, and I think there's a lot more content and artistry on display here than some of the old projects where every song was just non-stop stick and brick talk.
He's still got plenty of goon bars, but I just really prefer the type of content we've gotten from 2020 to now, and it's clear to me that when he doesn't just pump out a quick mixtape to feed the streets (like the Big Ghost tapes), that he's becoming much better at every aspect of being an artist. I know some people will always have Reject 2 as the best project, and it's in my #3 spot, but it's there largely due to nostalgia, and that being the project I discovered Conway from. I think there's no question he's a better artist now.
