It’s not going to sell anyway so just drop it. Holding him in limbo while the label waits for Kendrick/Dre/etc to drop is just stupid. This could have come out two weeks ago, a week ago. Hell even this week. Adele dropping on Friday has no bearing on a Conway album lol, just throw it out.

Amazed Benny watched all this and decided to sign with a major label…

I think Benny is in a better position to release an album than Con, Def Jam don't really hold back people as much as Interscope does.

True but Def Jam not clearing those samples either. That’s a major problem with Griselda on Shady. Replacing the samples with lifeless Beat Butcha stuff isn’t gonna satisfy people.

I'm confused.. All of y'all have said that about the sample issues. I thought that was one of the perks of signing with a major that they take care of stuff like that?

not much anymore. :/

Most majors don't want to pay for sample clearances because most music on majors isn't sample heavy enough to even require a lot of it. Sample clearance budgets have plummeted.

A big part of the GDMM delay has been sample clearances, because Conway has dipped into his own pockets to get some samples cleared for this album. That's been the #1 delay behind the scenes, because the production on GDMM does not sound like the production on WWCD or WMTSS. Conway didn't go the Beat Butcha route that @Piff Perkins talked about. .

The last sample heavy album I can think of that dropped on a major and actually had all the samples was cleared was Bandana, and that was a long process, and multiple songs were unable to be cleared.

Funny enough, indie releases are the play if you want to drop sampled music. More than 90% of the samples on music released independently are entirely uncleared. And honestly that percentage may be even higher than 90%.

Wow! What type of money does it take to usually clear a sample?
