This feels right. I've always felt Conway is extremely one note and hyper violent/super nikka gangsta shyt, which is entertaining but exhausting after years of the same shyt. On this album there's a lot of lyrical variety. He's always gonna have the gangsta shyt, but he gets personal on multiple tracks.

Beat wise you def get the sense some of these tracks were recorded for the Interscope release before finding a spot on here. Very little sample based shyt...you can many of the sounds come from those sample kits or were played live. But it works on here far better than on WWCD, which I thought was largely weak.

My only real complaint here is Conway's hooks/songwriting are still weak but that's not his lane.

Solid take on the album.

Re: the bolded. Absolutely. With a few exceptions on each project, most of this and the Shady debut were recorded this spring and summer. I noticed there's definitely less sample-based stuff too. It's there, but I'd say at least half the album is sample free. It definitely sounds much better here than on WWCD. There's only so diverse any one producer can realistically sound without sampling.

He's getting better at working around the hook-writing issue. I think he's wise to bring in Elcamino, other people that are better at hooks, having scratch hooks, or even beat-switches to hide the fact that there's no hook at all. I just really don't like the Lemon Squeeze hook. If he's gonna sing I'd much rather him do 50 Cent impersonations than WSG impersonations.

95% of their fan base started listening in the last year or so :heh:
:patrice: You’re probably right.

I know the test too. Anyone that really likes GOAT is usually a new fan and doesn’t remember how insanely hyped that was, only for it to be dumped onto SoundCloud and nowhere else.

That was considered a big disappointment by old fans. New fans don’t remember the hype and can listen to it as just another “tape.”

Damn my production sucks :mjcry:

Need to step this shyt up
Don’t be so hard on yourself breh. Most of this album is produced by a handful of the absolute best producers in this history of this music genre.

On the other hand it’s dope that you’re wanting to compare yourself to the greats!
