It's been said that NXT has it's own pay scale which is significantly less than the main roster pay scale. I remember Apollo Crews talking about it. There's different "steps" to the pay scale like a lot of businesses have. It's not exactly dependent on time spent, in Apollo's case it was "merit based" and I remember him saying he got a decent raise pretty quickly.

When you move up to the main roster that's a different negotiation. Wrestlers coming in from AEW or Japan are probably working out their main roster contracts before they sign.
Think only way we get some tangible numbers would be another WCW type lawsuit. But I think the stranglehold both companies have on the industry makes it unlikely coming from talent.

I would make an educated guess Ricky signed for more than the NXT going rate. He would have likely debuted on the main roster if timing had been different. Hopefully he didn't get conned into taking less than a main roster deal.

I think going to NXT took away every bit of the star power he had and he’s gonna have to start from scratch at a big age. Enjoy

It was either that, go indie for months to wait out Mania season, or sign with WWE and sit on the bench until Mania season was over.

Excuse me, my apologies, WWE doesn't put people on the bench, how dare I say such a thing :troll:

I agree at the end. If you're on ice in any promotion, you have the freedom to work out a deal with your parent promotion to loan you to another.
He’s also had other proposals that I liked. Something like if you are healthy and haven’t been used in a certain # of months then you can opt out of your contract and become a free agent.
