Man you better let them migos know nikkas getting whacked if they touch a hair on your body then book your flight
honestly not pretending to be billy badass in a foreign country with an american passport is probably a better strategy then testing locals' gangsta for clout :hubie:

Everyone (Black) I know that's been to DF has loved it. It's not like you're going to Sinaloa or trying to meet El Chapo.

The real danger is the water.

My research so far

Neighborhoods - Condesa or Roma
Attractions in Mexico City - The museums are supposed to be Paris level in terms of having cool stuff to look at. Day trips to the
Shopping - Real or Real Good Fakes - they should have it.
The Food - You already know.
The DOD Parade - It doesn't look hype like a Mardi Gras, but it should be something cool.

Night Life - ? Yo no se. I'm still looking stuff up.
Mujeres - Yo habla espanol? No?

Mexico City is safe. Just stay in the tourist areas and befriend some other tourists.

People will speak English, you won’t need to know much Spanish.

Don’t leave the city or try and go somewhere on the outskirts without a guide you trust. In fact, don’t even do that.

Nothing you want is out there.
good intel brehs

American tourists don't really have to worry about violence, BUT you should know that the law is not like it is in the US. Mexico City is very very safe, but at the same time, there are killings every day, and groups praying to Santa Muerte shrines in safe houses ,you are in the places in Roma and Condesa, you can see the guys with bodygaurds, and who roll armored cars, some legit, some not.

not to scare anyone it's just interesting to know

it's all coexisting in the same space, even if you don't see it. No one has any real reason to harm an American, who isn't involved. It's like saying if a Mexican person goes to Chicago, they should be worried about whatever is going down in the hoods on South Side. They will likely never see it.

The worst that could happen, in somewhere like Cancun, in the tourists areas, is seeing a murder right in front of you. That is extremely unlikely in Mexico City.

If you haven't visited mexico city, or have CLOSE SECOND HAND ACCOUNTS, don't drop links about decapitations or kidnappings.

I'm considering a trip to Mexico for Dia De Los Muertos for my birthday, and am wondering if this is a good or bad idea based on current Mexico City situations, the holiday itself, etc. If I were to rate my spanish i'd say its like a 3/10. Enough to know if i'm in trouble and order food.

Any advice [locations, do's / don'ts], or is this a trip to reconsider?
I’ve never been to during Dia De Los Muertos but have been to Mexico City several times in the past 3 years

It’s my favorite big city in the Americas. Food is banging, subway system makes it easy to get around, lots to do and see as far as architecture, nightlife, catch a soccer game if you down there at the right time those are lit.

City is fukkin massive, stick to the main areas and you’ll be fine. Lot of young people speak some form
Of English

As a black man you will stick out like a sore thumb. I was with my Nigerian home girl (dark skin, had box braids at the time) and people would stop and stare at us in the streets

Good areas to stay in are Condesa, Roma, polonia, and the historic center

The main difference is just in RULE OF LAW. You can't really trust the basic institutions that we basically trust in the US. Like it would be not very likely to have a 4 hour shootout in Beverly Hills, or North Shore Chicago, but in Mexico? It could happen.

Like those 4 in Matamoros, got snatched off the street like nothing. and only made it back, because the group gave them back.

There's been attempts to kill the chief of police in Mexico City, like intense gun battles with dozens of gunmen. Broad daylight, automatic weapons, for an hour.

but it's also much more likely you will never see any of that.
