Honestly, why couldnt they just make it optional and extend the check in to like once a week?
If you opt-in to family share/discless games then you opt in to drm checks. Console goes off line then you can only play games YOU bought (with disc). console goes off line longer than a week, you cant play shyt.
Personally, I wouldnt want that, but it seems feasible.

I can only imagine how far Creativity could have gone once Microsoft implemented their system to Protect Intellectual Property.
We have seen how Music and Movies turned out after destruction of Piracy. Niche Artists and Creativity Genres were forced out of the market due to low sales.
Microsoft WAS the only company with the foresight to protect developers from the coming onslaught of Piracy.
Now the only game that can make money in this type of World will be Free-to-play garbage like Angry Birds, MMORPGS and endless FPS multiplayer shooters.
We could have Saved gaming, but Gaming was destroyed the Greedy consumer who wants everything for free, but still want the Developers to make quality games.

Person A opts into DRM checks and plays his copy without the disc.
Person A then gives his disc to person B who opts out and plays the game normally.
2 people now have copies of said game.
