I previously mentioned a few MC Serch, Cormega, Prodigy
Seacrh … literally said in a Nas documentary like a decade ago that Nas was the king of New York
Cormega in an interview many years ago talked about biggie and pac & said Biggie might have owned New York, but popped owned America yet the simple fact was biggie went platinum first

these 3 individuals are completely connected to Nas
search - being his sort of mentor who brought him in the game
Cormega - being literally one of his best friends
prodigy - being his most talented understudy

and I’ll say in my humble opinion, I don’t think Nas had that same animosity towards Biggie as the people directly around him and his fan base, but this was very much the way his fanbase felt

I'm pretty sure the beef they had was just friendly competition. None of it had any malicious intent, they respected each other as MCs

I get what you're TRYING to do/say but this ain't it. Biggie is an icon. If you generally like 90s east coast rap shyt, you like Biggie. That's just reality. Now are there stans who ride for their guy against the other? Sure. That doesn't change the fact that Nas was Nas when Biggie was alive. Was Nas as popular as Biggie, at any point after Ready To Die came out? No. Did Biggie influence Nas, including heavily on IWW? Sure. Even Nas said he borrowed from Biggie. Biggie was the unquestioned king, from shortly after Ready To Die came out to his death. He had more hits, sold more, etc etc. I don't think anyone disputes that because it's facts.

By the end, from what people have said, Nas and Biggie weren't even on speaking terms. Is there tension today between the stans? Overall no IMO, but I sense some of it on the Coli. Not a lot because at the end of the day most of the Biggie fans on here are also fans of Nas, and Jay. I haven't seen any Nas stans hating on Big in here. Nor do I think it's hate to suggest artists who were able to live longer/drop more music surpassed Big artistically. That's just life vs death.

Biggie is on video saying he thought Nas was gonna win lyricist of the year, he gave him all types of props and congratulated him on IWW's success (before sneak dissing him lol). Who knows why they had a falling out. Prob just rap shyt. Dudes who were broke together, suddenly one guy is shining while the other guys (Nas, Rae, etc) are sharing cars and shyt. And by the time they started shining in 1996 maybe they felt Biggie had changed. Who knows man. Salute to Biggie. Salute to Nas. Salute to Jay.

Just replying to say I'm with your overall posts here, and it kinda trips me out that anyone in 2023 would be a super die hard fan for Big/Nas/Jay but not the others (unless you just seriously disliked one of them for a particular reason). Like, anyone might have their personal preference for any one of the 3, but I'd never think anybody was wild for putting any of these 3 guys in the #1 slot. There's various legit arguments for all of them, and they're all legends and have done enough to warrant the consideration.

There are all sorts of 'in the weeds' arguments you could get into for any of the 3, but I'd never seriously argue with anyone placing any of them as their #1 choice.
