And yet you have New Yorkers in this very thread disagreeing with you 😆 🤣

who ?
and as I said, from the very beginning, people have a right to their own opinion … so if somebody places Nas or Jay-Z above him cool, that’s their single opinion my issue with you is you wanted to completely take Biggie out of the top-tier for some nonsensical reasons and put them at No.1 & 2. which I said is impossible, because when all 3 was alive and well, we know who was number 1

Saying Nas and Jay were competing for the #2 and #3 spot while Biggie was alive is 100% false... not debatable in any way shape or form. so just off that I'm not even gonna attempt to entertain whatever point you think you have.

:what:

then who the hell was competing for the number 2 and 3 spots back then?

Illmatic sold more than RTD first week and IWW was the first East Coast solo rap album to debut #1 on Billboard

:snoop:

when does first week of sales : debut album ranking number 1 have to do with anything

are you seriously saying his first 2 albums were more successful

Diddy but no Caz? Masta Ace? Guru (even if he's from Boston), Buckshot, Eric or Parish, Corey Gunz, A.Z., Cormega, Billy Danze or Lil Fame, Talib, Special Ed, anyone on Duckdown. Way too many to name.

Honestly you can't even make this list. NYC is like the Hip Hop cheat code. It seems like a lot of this list was just shyt thrown at the wall to what sticks.

Okay, Biggie was bigger than both in life. So what? We literally talking a 3, max of 4 years. Nas was the shyt before Big even hit the scene, and 26 years have now passed since his death. What Nas and especially Hov have done in those 26 years trumps the 3-4 years you giving Big when everybody was young and early in their careers...

I mean I really don't understand the math you're working with. You're saying a 3 year run by Big is greater than the decades of work and more classics put out by Esco and Hov. In the words of yall New Yorkers: you bugging, nikka...

Between him with Biggie and Cladyclad with Jay and his obsession to hate on Nas the shyt is ridiculous. I ain’t even sayin Nas should be number 1. But he def shouldn’t be number 3. No fukkin way. nikka put in WAY too much work and is literally the reason we talkin bout this Hip Hop 50 shyt right now.

Bruh I've been calling this Biggie and Tupac shyt out for over a decade, probably since 2009 or 2010. At some point cats gotta realize, the game moves forward and continues to evolve. Pac and Big don't have enough work on the board to make them the greatest ever, forever. And it's not their faults, it's just the reality of the situation...

I think Hov and Nas are the two greatest rappers period, from anywhere. Full transparency, I think Jay is clearly #1, but I also think Nas is clearly #2 and there's not really anyone challenging him for that. These dudes were putting in work when Big was alive, and are still relevant over a quarter century later. The fact anyone can undermine that in favor of the brief careers Big and Pac had is ridiculous to me, I don't care who was bigger in the 3 years Biggie was around in the mainstream. Like I'm struggling to understand why that is more relevant than the rest of their work 🤣...

Big dropped two albums period, both were classics. Nas and Jay both got at minimum double that amount of classic records (and I could argue for more), they shyt on him with longevity....the Consensus always says Big is the better lyricist but even if that's true the gap isn't a huge one in favor of Big, Jay went bar for bar with him on Brooklyn's Finest and Nas speak for himself, these are three elite lyricists...

The impact on the culture, I can't speak on Big's impact in those 3 years, but Nas and Jay have influenced The Culture longer and for Jay particularly, in just more ways than Biggie, their impact is wider reaching...

I don't even get the argument honestly when dudes argue for these guys over Nas and Jay. That argument died many years ago...

I don’t know if you’re trolling or you’re being dead serious with that said this literally is one of the most ridiculous statements I’ve seen in a while

So less again, evaluate it and take biggie out of the equation

So you’re basically telling me that Nas and Jay-Z‘s body of work over the past two decades is just as relevant as their body of work from the mid 90s to the early 2000s = that is insane … at the end of the day. These two will be remembered by their body of work during the pinnacle of hip-hop not the hip-hop is dead era
That’s like saying Madonna whom was the biggest female star on the planet in her heyday during the early 80s, and as her run came to end the damn near 15 albums she created thereafter over 3 decades/currently cements her legacy

Again, I asked you are you trolling or are you being dead serious?
