Both in my Top 10.

But Common never reached the level of greatness Cube did, with his albums. I love Resurrection, it's my favorite Common album. But he doesn't have anything on the level of Death Certificate or Amerikkka's Most Wanted. Cube's way more impactful, and he spent years being the best rapper in the game. Common never got to that point, in his career.

I agree that Cube at his height clears Common on virtually every level but there's something to be said about longevity and consistency. Cube fell off HARD. Started chasing trends and just became a joke. Common has certainly had down periods but has been making objectively "good" music for longer than most rappers have, ever. Including dropping a great album this year.

The bytch In Yoo is hard but it did always bother me when Common said Cube's only good album was AmeriKKKa's Most

I don't think it's a coincidence that every time someone pulls the "you only have one good album" line in a diss it's a blatant lie lmao. Common, Jay, and Cole all tried that shyt. All were wrong but at least Common won the battle unlike the other two lol.

Nah, he was good and energetic but lyrically hes not seeing KRS, KANE, RAKIM etc.

And to no surprise hes weaker than Common in the later years (he Fell off hard)

Talking catalogues and impact.

KRS is one of my GOAT's, but he wasn't on top of the game for years. Kane was literally a wrap after his second album. Kane's run was two years. Cube was operating at a higher level and dropping classic after classic during his run. No other MC was doing what he was at that time.

Lol, so krs wasnt dropping at least 4 classics then? And after that

Krs today would have to be a limbodance savant to mess with cube Bar for bar

Cube is super simplistic most of the time

Krs diss records >>> no Vaseline

Common has him beat hard too imo :yeshrug:

Based on stats and what not Com aint seeing Cube

As a personal preference though I feel Com raps more from a genuine place as opposed to Cube who sounds like hes trying to put out the best product he can so id stick to Rashid

He dropped Sex and Violence right after Cube dropped Death Certificate.

Sex and Violence didn't work for KRS. It's literally the album that he says he forgets he made. And like I said, nothing he dropped during Cube's run can see Amerikkka's Most Wanted or Death Certificate.

You're talking about your preference in emceeing. I'm talking about how impactful and classic these albums were when they dropped in real-time. Common is my dude, but he doesn't have anything in his catalogue that can touch Cube's best work. He also never reached the heights that Cube did either. It's like Chuck D said back then, "America and these other rappers are gonna have a hard time dealing with Ice Cube. He's the best right now and he ain't going nowhere". No one back then had the game in a chokehold the way Cube did. We all knew that back then.
