So I have never read comic books...but now I'm getting interested. I have heard before that comics can be good reading. Based on the movies and the cartoons, I know the X-Men series probably focus on social issues.

Just curious...what are the best comic books that focus on these topics:

Scientific Advancement/New Technologies
Ancient History/Ancient Mysteries
Finance or money in some way (like financial crimes or one world currency)

Are there any?

Seems like you'd like the Illuminati story arc in Marvel

Illuminati (comics) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

By the way...all of these elements don't have to be within the same comic:

Scientific Advancement/New Technologies
Ancient History/Ancient Mysteries
Finance or money in some way (like financial crimes or one world currency)

Watchmen
V for Vendetta
Anything in Fantastic Four
A lot of JLU stuff from and Grant Morrison Batman focuses on ancient history and mysteries

Scientific Advancement/New Technologies - I'd say Fantastic Four, Hickman's run, would be a good start. Or Hickman's SHIELD miniseries.

Ancient History/Ancient Mysteries - Batman books are always good for mysteries, but beyond that I'd go into Inhumans, Dr. Strange or Wonder Woman

Finance or money in some way (like financial crimes or one world currency) - Strictly talking money issues might be harder, but going into the crime direction, Daredevil would be a great start.

Go read Planetary. It's nothing new, but its 29 issues and not tied to any mainstream books, it's self contained and exactly what you're looking for.
