When the thread was made it was assumed it was getting a China release.
A China release would have easily had it over gotg.
As is,its going to pass winter soldier and will have made more than 8 of 13 marvel films.
Not bad for a supposed flop.
Bad assumption I guess. When the thread was made it was assumed it was getting a China release.

The film was successful from a box office standpoint. People wanted to see this movie (and I'm positive people will flock to see a sequel). When the thread was made it was assumed it was getting a China release.

Wait so after all this about a 2 day total, 7 day total, 24 day total, etc., it still didn't make more than GoTG?
The Chinese didn't like the Japanes character or some shyt.
I mean, they could've released a different version like Marvel did with Ironman 3 but they didn't. Which means WB is either happy with the results or dumb as fukk (which we know they kind of are for different reasons)
Right. Because an entire country not playing a film, one that has the 2nd highest box office in the world is comparable to people having to drive 5 minutes further to see gotg in a different theatre. a whopping 167 theatre difference. The bar was set by the thread starter and the movie didn't clear that bar. The fact that WB seems to not know how to do business in a major market is a failure on their part. I could argue that if GOTG had released in more theaters it would have made more than it did but that would be irrelevant because it didn't. So let's deal in what actually happened instead of "ifs" and "coulds".
What happened is the movie had terrible reviews and made lots of money but failed to clear the bar set by the #1 DC stan of the Coli.
It was banned in China so we can't compare anymore tbh

Who the is fukk is grading them on a curve? It's just a fact. If it had released in China it would have grossed more than gotg. It's a well known fact that China is a big market so it's up to a sound business to do what it takes to get their product released there. You can't grade them on a curve because they failed to do the work. That would be like me getting lower grade than my classmate because I didn't do the homework then being like "I could have had a higher GPA if I did the work". People would look at me like and they would be right.

It's hilarious that it bothers you this much.
Please post the definition of grading on a curve with a link and how that relates to me stating if ss had also released in China it would have made more. The very statement that if this that or the other happened it would have made more is the definition of grading it on a curve. Deadpool didn't release in China, made more and came much closer o passing GOTG but no one was making excuses about it's numbers. The movie didn't hit the mark the OP set for it and now you're making excuses as to why. The movie did very well, talking about what it could have done just makes it seem like you're not as happy with the results whether that is true or not.

I don't think you know what grading on a curve means.
