MLSE hires firm to look for possible replacement, sources say

Multiple NBA sources say MLSE has hired a head-hunting firm to whittle down a list of possible replacements to replace Colangelo. Deadline to pick up Colangelo’s option year is Monday.

Two names being tossed around NBA circles at the league’s annual draft combine are Kevin Pritchard, currently the general manager of the Indiana Pacers and Troy Weaver, the vice-president and assistant general manager of the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Tank and get Wiggins.
As long as the Raptors miss the playoffs, they will net Wiggins, quote me on this.
Silver is Stern's protege, he will make sure the Canadian prodigy winds up in T-Dot.

We will get the 8th spot next year, and get swept by the heat. No Wiggins for us... :snoop:

The Raps are not in that bad a position. Colangelo has messed up a lot, but hes done some good things too. Our starting lineup is pretty good, and as it stands I believe the Raps are a playoff team for the next 2 seasons, after which the Fields and Bargnani contracts expire. At that point Valanciunas will be a star and free agency is more of an option for us.

If we let Colangelo go, its a good opportunity to tank for Wiggins. We have the option of letting Lowry go for cheap, and without competent point guard play this team will struggle badly even without dumping anyone else. Its why backup point guard is such a key position to upgrade this summer. If we can trade some guys for more first round picks it should be done but its unlikely other teams will give up those picks in whats supposed to be such a good draft.

It does suck for BC that he picked Val and waited a year from him, and because that year slowed the process down he probably wont be around to see him become a star. On the other hand, he fukked up in lots of other ways so I wont be too sorry to see him gone. The Fields deal and taking Ross instead of Drummond seal the deal. When that pick came up I thought we were taking Drummond for sure. When we didnt I spent the next minute clutching my head and pacing. Whoever is running the team, I need less of those moments in my life as a Raptors fan.

I was skeptical of the future after that 4-19 start but Jonas gives me great hope. If we decide to continue building around our core, I can see us being like the Pacers which isn't that bad considering our history :scusthov:

I still don't understand why they would keep Colangelo on in any capacity when he's proven time and time again that he's a failure. He must be a pro at schmoozing with the dumbasses on the MLSE board.

Makes sense now that they're focusing on hiring someone who worked under him for years. Ugh. Now I can see them keeping Casey and the status quo.

Edit: Colangelo's also representing the Raptors at the draft lottery tomorrow.
