Nah. He didn't have to follow orders. He could've said I'm not doing it, you're gonna have to fire me. He would've went down in the annals of history as a hero. He purposely went to the UN and lied. And he knew what he was doing. I don't hate the man, but I'm not going to give him a pass for that.

And he never admitted they lied. He even carried water for them in interviews several years later. He did say that he's ashamed of his UN speech, but he still never called it a lie.

He was the least Neo-Con out of the group and clearly told them not to do it. All reports said this. Again, I wasn't giving him a pass but unlike Bush and Cheney he did come out and state they were wrong about the weapons before either of those guys did. He was the sacrificial lamb at the U.N. speech when he was the one telling them all not to go to war but he was out numbered. Obviously looking back he wish he went with his instincts and quit but you have to look at the time and what was going on. It's easy now to say he should of just quit but he was in it thick back then. Regardless he came to his senses which is why he endorsed Obama twice. Republicans are really mad at him now.

No surprise... They put up monkey pictures on cac sites (freerepublic) when he endorsed Obama in 2008.
He's been persona non grata in republican circles ever since.

In an interview with CNN’s Piers Morgan this evening, Romney Campaign Co-Chair and former New Hampshire Gov. John Sununu (R-NH) offered a surprising theory on why General Colin Powell endorsed President Obama for reelection today — because both men are black:

SUNUNU: You have to wonder whether that’s an endorsement based on issues or that he’s got a slightly different reason for President Obama.

MORGAN: What reason would that be?

SUNUNU: Well, I think that when you have somebody of your own race that you’re proud of being President of the United States — I applaud Colin for standing with him.

For the record, John Sununu is an intelligent and accomplished white man. He has also decided to endorse Mitt Romney, who is white, over Barack Obama, who is black. No one believes that Sununu made this decision for any reason other than the fact that he prefers Romney’s policies to Obama’s, and it would be absolutely inappropriate to suggest that Sununu joined the Romney campaign because he wanted a president of his same race.

Colin Powell is also an intelligent and accomplished man. Suggesting he is unable to see beyond the president’s race is no less insulting.
