Nah all through 80's and 90's they had those shows and they did fine.
Until they didn’t which is why they were removed.

Frankly I think that Bob Johnson sold BET because he didn’t want to hear nikkas mouths about him giving them the fukkery that they wanted to see.

You are a billionaire and Purchase the network. You have complete and total control, and appointment yourself as president and CEO. What changes would you make to the network?
What is your end goal?
Ratings?
Profit?
Prestige?
“generational wealth”

That is the only way to give a proper answer

I would sign a deal with Netflix or Hulu.

I would stream awards shows on said platform as well as daily shows including a revamped 106 & Park, News and HBCU sports.

I would make it a priority to push intelligent content over stereotypical garbage.

BET Presents would be an exclusive line of movies from black directors and writers.

Which is why I posted about the telcom act and how that affected what was produced via local ownership of radio stations which eventually effected what BET put out.

My point being that black people don't inherently dislike that type of content but if you don't expose kids to it early they are going to gravitate to whatever else is put in front of them.

Hire Arlette & BM to produce a pop the balloon in different major black markets (LA, NYC, DMV, ATL, HOU, CHI, and MIA).
:gladbron:
I'd do all cheap shows, maybe a few sitcoms, and news.
:patrice:
TV is dead though so I wouldn't pick up a network though.

1. Bringing back all the good black TV sitcoms with positive portrayals of black ppl for the weekend (Amen on Sunday).
2. In an act of utter cac defiance, the first of those sitcoms to air WILL be The Cosby Show.
3. Get Tyler Perry out the paint. Black Degeneracy has no place on my network
4. Open an talent school for Black Americans to get them out of Tubi Hell. Funnel them directly to original programming on my network, which will include both live action and animated features.
5. Bring back the classic music shows (with warnings for the content of some of the videos) along with other shows playing Black American music genres to fill in the gaps for the uneducated as to the origins of them all.
6. Ban Fat Joe music
7. Ban Busta Rhymes music
8. Ban anybody that lies about 50/50, West Indian and Jamaican influence in Hip-Hop/Rap
9. Give a trial period of content to other genres of music in the diaspora and see how they act. If they don't trip, extend their programming blocks.
10. Bring in black intellectuals that aren't beholden by corporations or politicians to discuss Black American issues.

Those pop the balloons shows seem very popular.

Id throw Arlette a nice bag

As someone else mentioned a night cap type of show in regards to spots

Also as other people mentioned I'd higher popular black YouTubers and tiktoks and build content around them

A gameshow centred around black topics

Video Soul is coming back off top.
Syndicate all the black shows I can from Julia to One on One on different nights, a two-hour block, six-hour block on Sunday.
Trim them long commercials. Do three Black movies from Friday, Saturday and Sunday between programming.
Two-hour news coverage. Black history programming.
A block dedicated to financial literacy, economics real estate and urban planning in the Black community in public access format.
Get the rights to A Different World and finally release it on DVD, probably do the same with other Black television series.
Promote HBCUs, higher education and start a program on the basics of developing a black-owned business.
