Good morning Coli brehs and brehettes,

How y'all do you on your tasks yesterday? If you didn't do everything on your list - I didn't - don't beat yourself up. Progress is progress and the goal is to take small steps toward becoming better about organization and task management.

I've been really trying to implement two strategies that I've learned about:

  • O.H.I.O method - (O)nly (H)andle (I)t (O)nce. It refers to having a strict rule that if you pick up a document on an object, you should complete whatever task it's a part of so you don't constantly handle and drop multiple things and failing to multitask. I have a big box on my office desk that I throw every loose document in. Once I grab something from that box, I make a point to put it wherever it needs to go and/or complete whatever it demands so I never have to handle it again. I've been struggling to even go into the box throughout the day but I know if I get myself to consistently do this method, it'll go a long way in organization for me.
  • Eat the Frog method - Refers to handling the toughest task first. Imagine being forced to eat a meal where a whole frog was on the plate. Disgusting, right? But, imagine you will have to eat it or die. The last thing you want to do is have the frog be the last thing to eat. If you just tough it out and eat that frog, everything else will seem so much easier. With that in mind, if you have a task that will be a stressful experience, it's better to just get that out of the way and your remaining path will feel that much easier once the difficult task is completed.
Good luck on your task today, yall

The War to End Distraction

Brehs, at some point, being productive has felt like that missing piece for many of us. I know because, it's always been a constant struggle within myself as well. We are in this thread because the idea of dedicating ourselves to being driven and getting things accomplished makes our ears point up like wolves ready to pounce on prey.

The challenging thing is, even with the acknowledgment that "just get it done" is clearly understood by us, more times than not, as we settle into ready position, anxious to pounce on the task or goal, something seemingly uncontrollable seems to retract our claws, hide our teeth and we hide back into the bush. We lose motivation, drive and fail to do what we set to accomplish.

It's disheartening when many people truly don't understand you and label you lazy or a bum and claim you aren't serious about your life even though, you genuinely want to be accomplished and productive. You start to believe what they say, "I'm just a lazy bum."

You're not.

This is an attempt to drown out that negativity and journey w/ Coli brehs who are willing to fight with you to help us all become our better selves.

Here, in this thread, we acknowledge this war between productivity & distraction and this is YOUR unit - We are going to try to fight this war together. We are Charlie Company - Coli Unit. Your brother right next to you is going to dap you, rep you and provide support in every way to let you know you can do this.

We all have the ability to be the most productive version of ourselves.

- The Marshmallow Test: mastering Self-Control

Everyone welcome - even Coli lurkers, just sign up, sign in and join the fight.
