Bump..
@DPresidential @Wanya Morris Holding you guys accountable

I use a kanban board to stay current with my task. Kanbanchi has a free app that comes as an extension to your browser and can be integrated into your google account.

https://www.kanbanchi.com/

If you are not familiar with kanban as a project management tool, see here: What is Kanban? | LeanKit

Productivity is powerful. What's even more powerful is efficiency (which I think is a bit different). Becoming more efficient in all areas of my life is my goal for 2018.

There is an argument that the most successful people are masters of efficiency.

Anyway, great thread!

My task for today are:

Work

  • Conduct review of Fund "BB" financial statements and send comments to the preparer.
  • Set up call with auditors to discuss comments received for Fund "BA".
  • Sign off on December valuations for Fund "BA".
  • Status updates from the offshore team.
Personal
  • Send update to "ABC" board on the status of the annual report.
  • Send PayPal walkthrough to "XYZ" to be included in her presentation at the annual meeting next Sunday.
  • Contact guild president to assign a lector for next Sunday.
  • Email secretary with the name of the lector.
  • Speak to "DEF" about his experience on charities board in preparation for nominating committee interview Thursday.
  • Complete Monday's training sent by coach.
  • Call dad to check on him.
  • Read a chapter of book "NOP".

Great thread....

I've tried to be more organized but found that I don't like the anxiety of writing things down so I'll sort through it in my head. I've seen that some things fall through the cracks so I need to do a better job of writing them down. Rather do it electronically than have a paper planner. will be visiting this thread from now on.

I had to literally start making alarms for everything, or else I would forget( or just straight up not do it).

I have alarms in my phone like

"Call doc and make appt"
"Call mom back"
"Pick up milk on the way home"
"Pick up toothpaste"

My mind constantly runs. And I mean RUN. I cant focus on one task. I'm thinking of a million things at once, until I literally just shut down and end up doing nothing.

My energy is super low brehs.

I don’t want to do anything :mjcry:

I’m going to take control though:ehh:
Breh,

I promise you that no one in this thread, especially me, is better or more equipped than you with respect to getting that first thing written on the to do list. I know just how torturous it is to just do it. It almost feels like even though your pen and paper are no less than 4 inches away from each other - to get them to connect and begin writing a to do list feels like it's really thousands of miles away.

I know that feeling! I struggle with it every day.

Do this for us...

Just put 2 simple tasks on a to do list. 2 things that don't require a lot. JUST 2. Put a nice check box next to it. Matter of fact, do this, put 3 tasks:
  • Task 1 - Create short to do list
  • Task 2 - Respond back to this thread letting us know you created it
  • Task 3 - One addition simple task
When you do that first task which is to do the list, I promise the dopamine level in your brain is going to raise a bit and it'll feel good to check it. Then, ride that wave and tell us and that'll give you your first check. And take it from there.

Try it. Don't even convince yourself that you need to do a to do list every day...just do it today and get back to us on how you felt.

You're speaking my life. Believe me.

Low key, it actually makes me optimistic as fukk when I hear this from you and others - because it shows me I'm not "fukked up" or lazy. We have the type of mind that would be perfect if the idea of "cubicle and office spaces" didn't exist. Human beings aren't meant to be just doing menial and boring tasks all day. People like us are thinkers and are the type to excel in a "Get it done or die in 5 minutes" type of situation.

That's why we can't seem to find motivation until the event horizon of when the task HAS to be done.

And there is nothing wrong with making those alarms, either. Respect. :salute:

Every semester I say I'm going to type my paper WEEKS ahead of the due date. And every semester, I'm up until 2am the day before its due, typing a 10 page paper:mjlol:

Honestly, when I am at my most efficient, it's because I remember just how great it feels when you bang something out as timely as possible. When I look back, it feels like I found a few 20s in my pocket from a minute ago.

It's like a gift of time and options for myself.

Try to think of it like that.

Aight, I'll take a little hiatus from the Coli until around 3:30 or 4 so I can push a little more into getting this list done.

Respect to all of y'all
