in the 90s, there was some speculation that K2 was taller than Everest. K2 is more north so more cold. Its in the Kasmir region of Pakistan, bordering India and China. Everest is in Nepal. If K2 had been named like Everest it would have been Godwin Austin, but it got its name for being the second mountain spotter in the Kharorum range. K2 canonly be observed from a remote observatory or outpost. The movie showcase that by having the climber traverse eleated ares before climbing K2.
As expected, this is an adrenaline fuel frat boy fest even once the shivering starts. Most ppl quit before the journey barely began. The problem isn't just getting to the top, it's getting back down safely and that is the dram of most of the movie. While based on real life events, this is a fictional story, so they slap a happy ending on this thing call it a day.

I remember seeing the ads for K2 as a kid but this one slipped by me. It's an international film with mostly British actors. They definitely want you to know climbing Everest is heavily commercial and big business nowadays. This movie is based off of a 1996 incident. The moral of the story is no matter how comfortable you think you are with Everest, Everest always win. Your hubris, your ultra machoism, that means nothing. So, it isn't long before the trail of dead bodies starts even before you get to the top, and that of course is half the battle. Pretty depressing.
Vertical Limit, don't even bother, that film garbage
