Watched this based off of Gaspar Noe calling the film "very dark" during his Criterion closet video and seeing it being rated highly on various sites. After watching it...

It's true Julianne Moore's character spirals into practically a shell of her former self, but I was expecting a better and...honestly darker film. This was kind of boring at times actually (even if some parts were meant to be by design).

I haven't felt this burned in a minute. This was the first Vietnamese movie to be released in the US and it's supposed to get US Netflix sometime in the summer (it's already on Vietnam Netflix) but it was available for download so I grabbed it anyway.

Veronica Ngo stars as an ex-gangster who is lying low in the countryside after becoming a mother, but she can't escape her violent past when her daughter is kidnapped.

Sounds interesting enough for at least a decent watch right? WRONG. I'm expecting some Taken/John Wick/Villainess type action due to how it's been hyped up and what I got was a Lifetime Original movie with some fight scenes sprinkled in. I'm talking an 80/20 split like Master P. Said action scenes weren't even that great so I'm left with an hour and a half I'll never get back. And the score couldn't be more generic.

It's supposedly one of the most successful movies in Vietnam to date. Cinema over there must be straight

Generic revenge flick with some terrible dialogue from the villains and I'm not sure if it was the language barrier but the English lines were delivered so awkwardly. Made it about halfway before I cut this off. Only reason I lasted that long is because ol girl looked like a skinner version of Alycia Starr in this

So poorly paced and slow. I don't know how you're surrounded by your comedy heroes and can't write a better script for them to be funny in. I completely understand his Razzie nomination for this gigantic missed opportunity.
