Un Couteau dans le Coeur (Knife + Heart) is a French Giallo-styled slasher film that takes place in the late 70s European gay porn scene. If that log line doesn't get your juices flowing (every pun intended), what will? Vanessa Paradis is the porn director whose actors are murdered one by one by a gimp-masked killer wielding a black dildo with a knife popping out as his weapon of choice (but unfortunately later also uses just regular knives). With some nice psychological and supernatural horror sprinkled on top the film is a delightfully raunchy affair for the whole family (assuming your whole family has excellent taste in retro cinema).

Son Of Saul's László Nemes returns with a movie shot in the same close-up style as his hard-hitting holocaust drama, although the story couldn't be any different. A young woman travels to Budapest to find a job in the famous store of her deceased parents, but is quickly and rudely dismissed by the store's new owner. When she founds out about a brother she never knew she had, she starts searching for him, and along the way discovers more and more secrets. But although you could say there's a mystery, and certainly many clues are uncovered along the way, the story is more about how her search changes who she is. With gorgeous set- and production design (almost every shot is a long-take with in the background the lively city of Budapest) it's a truly impressive technical achievement, although the film's length probably makes it better suited for a rainy day couch viewing than a theatrical viewing.

watching Gabriel Iglesias new stand up on Netflix....kinda disappointed he's closing out the show with jokes he did in his other specials.

the crowd knows the punchlines word for word but still...
