Black Panther - Movie
Finally watched this in the movies, been busy af. Wakanda forever you cacs. I'd give it
8/10. *SPOILERS AHEAD* It felt quite short honestly, but so much black culture that I can forgive the small inconsistencies in the movie and the fact that they HAD TO cast a cac to give some form of white dominance in the movie... Overall the movie has an outstanding cast, the clothing, the music, the special effects, the story... a lot was REALLY, REALLY well-done. They had some missed opportunities: they ended the cac bad guy too early, he seemed powerful and interesting, from a 'what's his backstory' pov, and we never got to learn anything about him. Again, the cac whose help they 'needed'. Come on.. nobody black wants to see that in the movie of the year. It's still the movie of the year though and hopefully one day a movie this good and this professional can be made by black people (as in the majority of the earnings go to black people, not white people).
Evil Genius - Documentary
Crime documentary on Netflix about the Pizza Man bank robbery. A robbery gone wrong where a man with a bomb around his neck robs a bank and then gets caught by police and tells them he was forced to rob this bank. Without spoiling it: a maze of hints and suspects is highlighted. I'd give this a
7/10 just because the circumstances of the robbery are so weird and unique. The lady you see on the poster is the 'star' of the documentary and also what keeps it from really being great.
CURRENTLY RE-WATCHING
Sons of Anarchy - TV Series
The story of a California bike gang and their adventures. Already watched this, now rewatching this because my girl would like to see it too. We both agree that it's very slow and quite boring. First time I saw it: 8/10. Rewatching it.. at best
6/10.
24 - TV Series
The story of Jack Bauer, a Counter Terrorist Unit Agent and the events that all take place in a 1-hour per episode, 24 hours per season format. One of my favorite tv shows of all time and the only one of 2 that I actually own (the other one being The Wire). I don't buy TV shows, I prefer movies. I'm back at it and in season 6 and this show remains amazing. Even though some things are just extremely unlikely (dude CAN'T die) the way this show is put together, the level of the actors, the music, the writing, the sense of urgency... it's always great.
9/10, no discussion, very little competition. *Spoilers ahead* the Salazar brothers are one of the best bad guys in TV history and I already know Season 8 is the most insane season ever on TV. Must-watch if you haven't.
Mindhunter - TV Series based on a true story
Criminal profilers are normal now but this show tells us the story of how this profession came to be, it follows two FBI Agents who end up creating the 'criminal profiler'. The lead character has something, a mix of nonchalant and sarcastic and insecure - and it really hurts the show. Not sure if he was instructed to act like this or if this is his personality seeping through but every time you feel drawn into the show's story as they help local police find killers and as they interview serial killers to understand the mind of criminals.. he breaks that.
6/10
