At a cultural event this weekend in Rotterdam in a makeshift "warehouse" that could hold roughly thirty people (and ended up having about twenty people inside) they played the 2006 restored version of
FW Murnau's Nosferatu with live music played by some German ambient house artist. While I didn't care much for the "alternate" soundtrack (too much ambient droning, not enough suspense building) the movie itself really stands the test of time, an amazing accomplishment in early filmmaking like no other.
