That too.

A lot of ppl aren’t being honest. Black folks weren’t kind about their looks. Serena’s curves were the focal point

I never heard Black folks clown her looks in the ATL or college. I remember being in the barbershop hearing damn near X rated convos about what they would do with Serena. Even when I lived in Asia I knew Black dudes with Serena as their wallpaper.

Now most said Serena was much cuter than Venus but this narrative that they were ugly or "dark butts" is selective remembrance. The few people dissing her become "Black men" as a whole and unfortunately the sisters may have internalized that.

What's crazy though is whatever Black folks said, White folks said 10x worse so not sure why you go there to soothe your feelings.

I don't remember many Black men disparaging their looks. I do remember a lot of White people calling them ugly and mannish. They never seemed to have problems finding Black celebrities to date either.
Exactly. I have no problem if they just like White men. Their life, their preference.

It just drives me up a wall when people claim that wider Black men, with whom they had sparse contact anyway, made them do anything.

I was always ridin' with Venus.
Always had to defend that, they wasn't hearin' me.
Was ridin' with Michelle Kwan back in the day too, but that was different.

I agree, Venus was cute but I'm just saying that's the worst I heard. This "they ugly" shyt started with social media losers.

I remember hearin' that back in maybe '04. It was media. Hardly any black people saying that got cosigned from my experience.
I remember the early and mid '00s bein' fairly Afrocentric where I was. High school hit and then all the hate for DSBW came. Never understood it.

...that was when the gender wars started if I'm not mistaken... early 2010s... late '00s. And it carried over from the late 90s if I'm not mistaken.
Used to hear my peers biggin' up black women one year completely switch up the next year...

At least you’re honest.
This is the climate the ladies and I have been referencing on here and dudes act like we’re making it up. There was a block of time where dudes were shytting on dark skinned girls
