Because you basically let teams redraft the league with your roster.

Yes, the specter of collusion is there, too. Though, I don't think that's what it is. I just think it's somebody copping out, and fukking up the balance of the league.

Yes, we could have vetoed every trade. shyt, I did. But the individual trades weren't what suck, it's the overall redistribution.

Shut the fukk up. You tanked last year, and sold out for picks this year. It's not about being conservative, it's about trying to field a competitive team, or not. And he's not, this year. Period.

He shouldn't be posting the prices of players and having a fukking liquidation sale 3 weeks before the season starts. Don't draft in the first place.

No. What's to blame is a player throwing up the white flag, putting his whole roster up for sale, and basically forcing people to try to rape the roster for talent, just to stay competitive or keep somebody ELSE from getting that talent.

He's basically paying 80 to play next season. You can only keep 5 guys. So most of the young players he traded for will be out the door anyway, trust the guy who's drafted taveras twice now.

It's just funky. And it means we should have had somebody else in the league. They would have drafted better, and not felt the need to unload everyone for $.50 on the dollar.

Plus since he's dumping all his late picks for higher picks all his people will cost a lot higher than what they would've since he won't have late picks for the prospects

everyone has their strategy and I felt this was my best way to have a chance to win next year

I looked at my batting, which was decent and my pitching was ok, didnt think I had a shot for this year, so why wouldnt I start getting ready for next?

If I was colluding with @King Diesel, then I would have taken his original deal he sent me for cargo, we went back and forth for 2 days and finally came upon a deal

its kinda funny, you being upset about all these trades and complaining that other owners getting players cause I remember you sending me a garbage ass deal with Josh Reddikk involved, so your hypocritical ass

Like I said:

The league would be better if you had simply not signed up, and we either did it without your team, or gave it to somebody else. And its kind of wack that we have to wait for a year for one team to give a fukk anymore.

OK, here are some ideas we can bat around...although it's too late to implement them this year.

1. A lottery for the top picks in the following draft. Example, the 4 last place teams get a weighted chanced at the pick. 40%/30%/20%/10%. And I kind of like the idea of the team with the best second half of those four teams getting the 40% chance.

2. A non-weighted lottery for a $10-20 prize among the 4th-8th place finishers....or something like that. It will lower what the "winners" get, but should help keep more teams interested

3. Limit draft pick trading. Either be setting a date before which picks couldn't be traded, which we decided against 2 years ago, or limited the number of trades a player can make involving draft picks. Example: no team can make more than 4 trades involving picks.

4. Set a limit on the number of picks anyone can have in a round. Like no more than 2 picks in any round.

5. Require any player selling off their draft picks to pay for NEXT year's league ahead of time. Say, anyone trading a pick in the 5th round or higher would be required to essentially make a deposit on next year's dues (50%?). I think this would work on LeagueSafe, but I'm not positive.

6. And a really interesting idea I've seen other leagues use, a "trade match" window. Basically, during a set time, like 2-3 days, EVERY team will have a chance to match or beat any trade....or any trade involving a certain quality of player. This would be public, so all teams would be able see where the bar is set. Maybe only do this for trades involving picks. Not sure how this would work with Yahoo's rules, although commissioners can adjust rosters.

Or we can see how this plays out and do nothing.

Thoughts?

First off, I appreciate the effort you put into this post.

I stand by my take that being conservative won't win you this league. You're gonna have to move a few picks to get win. No one can have that draft 1-26 and win a league unless you have like 5 top 20 players as your keepers. Standing pat and not doing anything to help you team in short or long term is a dumb move. If you know you can't get in the money mid august when deadline hits, you should absolutely try to upgrade your keeper or draft situation. If you're one piece away from winning money, why not move a pick? I honestly believe if I could get in top half of the league without a single pick before round 10, if you know what you're doing you can draft your way out of pretty much any hole you create. And I'm not saying it about you anyways, you were pretty active trying to make moves.

I resent the tanking accusation. I was trying to win it all but needed few pieces, traded a 1st, 4th, 6th, and 7th for tulo iwakuma and fowler and it got vetoed and that's when I threw up the white flag... Which btw is a trade everyone after says shouldn't have been vetoed... I'd be in a much different situation today.

I'm indifferent on all this

I truly think that if we had done the draft a day or two before the season started, front 2 back would have been way more likely to at least ride his team for a month or two at least

I'm okay with whatever you guys decide on

I think it's best to either limit the time when you can trade picks, or the amount of picks you can trade. Maybe you're allowed to trade only 1 pick in first five rounds, 1 5-10, 1 10-15, 1 15-20, and 1 20-26. You can include all 5 picks in one trade or 5 trades with 1 pick each, it'd add an interesting strategy to how you package your picks, and their value.

Offer sheets for draft picks better than 10th round sounds like a good idea to me.

even though i was one of the teams involved in the trades, i agree that something should be done. i like #3, im in another league im in, where draft pick trading is allowed, but you cant start trading picks until july atleast doing it that way it forces teams to be competitive atleast for a few months.
