Heard an interesting idea to discourage tanking the other day. Money goes to the top 3, right? First draft pick should go to 4th place, then second to 5th place and so on. 3rd place gets 3rd to last, 2nd gets 2nd to last, and whoever finished first drafts last.
That'd solve some of you dingbats trading all your players 48 hours after the draft.

In a redraft league, sure. But not in a keeper league.
The idea is meant for a keeper league. Nobody in their right mind should tank in a redraft league.
This league is going to get stale (honestly last year was boring af) if we keep the current system where 3+ teams tank in April every year. I'd like to hear an alternative idea or a very good explanation as to why this idea doesn't fit our league, Mr Commish.
Obviously this rule wouldn't start for this draft, but implementing it for the 2016 season could do our league wonders.
Outrageous tanking hasn't proven to be an effective strategy. That alone should discourage that nonsense.
But rebuilding and planning for next year is a legit strategy. How should a team, like mine last year, as an example, plan for the next season? I had no chance at 4th place, and trying to "compete" for 5th/6th would prevent me from trading talent for picks/prospects.
The idea would punish tanking, but also poor or unlucky teams would be unfairly caught in the crossfire.
I'd say we don't have enough data to validate the first statement. And with my suggestion you can still rebuild for next year by trying to acquire more draft picks, however if you want your individual pick to be good then you still need to field a good team. In addition, I don't think that automatically giving 'poor' teams a better draft pick makes much sense. I understand having a small penalty for teams who win the previous year, since we're dealing with a good amount of money. But who says the guy who finishes in 13th deserves a better draft pick than the guy who finished in 4th or 5th?
In all honesty I'd prefer if it were random every year, we do that in my longtime fantasy football dynasty league.
Every professional sports league?
Besides, with so many of the best players being kept from year to year, the pick isn't the important part of "tanking". It's more about acquiring multiple picks and hitting on the right prospects/keepers. And doing this will naturally leave your roster depleted.
