He's one of the most prominent Black directors, actors, and producers in the industry, if not the top.
And he employs a massive amount of Black people, while also giving Black actors and actresses a strong platform to start a career.
But he uses outdated stereotypes and ridiculous messages in all of his movies. If he'd get some fresh Black talent to help him in writing brilliant Black movies.
He did do Precious as well as For Coloured Girls both movies a gritty and realistic depiction of the less "shiny" aspects of Black life here in the US, so I support him for that, he also simultaneously had four Black shows running on television at a given time, so I definitely support that.
I just need him to branch off: Black sitcoms that aren't stupid, Afro-futurist movies that don't demonise certain Black men and women, brilliant dramas, Black children's cartoons, etc.
I expect more out of Tyler Perry, but I do fukk with him for now.
