I applaud any person from a country that has a Latin alphabet who learns either Chinese, Korean or Japanese (He's Kenyan.)

They are literally the total opposite of any romance language. For most people, it takes 10 years to learn Japanese, and that shít isn't even as hard as Chinese.

For reference purposes, it'd take a native English-speaker like 1-3 years to become fluent in Spanish.

Facts.

Worked with a Chinese breh back in college. He was teaching me some Mandarin on the low and said I had a good ear for mimicking correct pronunciation. Told him learning to speak it wouldn't be that bad but learning to read/write it....would be rough.

Did French in school up to AP 4. Must have had like 15 or 20 different verb tenses. That's where it's easy to get lost.

if you can get the tones speaking and listening is doable. but being able to make them consistently was very hard for me. the actual grammar in chinese is dead easy.

but learning to read and write it is insanely difficult.

French can take a minute because it's like English where you have a gang of homophones and silent letters. It's also not that phonetic of a language.

If you put in an hour a day for Spanish, you'll be straight after a year or two. I say that because the most difficult part about it is memorizing the verb tenses, and figuring out how the different dialects butcher the language:mjlol:.

Fúcking Puerto Ricans and their slurred Spanish.
