Can someone school me on the 335i? Thinking about getting one. My main concern is reliability.
Props for the quick run down. How is the n54 on the 335is? Any more reliable?335i year ranges form 2007 to 2017
The N54 Engine which features a twin turbo I6 ran form 2007 to 2010. Very easy to tune and a blast to drive.
The LCI 335i got the n55 engine which features a Twin Scroll I6
N54 engines had a High Pressure Fuel Pump recall which is warranted until 100K miles
They should be avoided because the injectors need to replaced which cost a few hundred each(6 injectors)
There is no reason to look at N54 engines anyways since a used N55 335i can be had for fairly cheap.
And any BMW will be costly since they require more electronic parts thus more labor.
I honestly wouldn't buy any car without a good warranty and I would lease any luxury cars honestly.
If you have any more questions let me know.
As long as you properly maintain your car you shouldn't have any real issues with it. Like @HookersandIceCream said, stick with the n54 engine as the prices are starting to come down. Can someone school me on the 335i? Thinking about getting one. My main concern is reliability.

The mechanic who I took my car to over the weekend to get my summer tires put back on my car. He daily drives a highly modified 335is pushing over 450hp at the crank. He said he really hasn't had any issues besides the turbos are starting to fail because it's running a jb4 tune on stock turbos.Props for the quick run down. How is the n54 on the 335is? I have a 2007 accord that's starting to run its course and was looking for an upgrade. I looked at the 335i cuz it seemed pretty sporty yet could be a daily driver as well.

fukk. I want the 335is too. I guess I'll look for a n55 with the m sports package. No its the same exact engine just upgraded to 320hp. I am a huge fan of the 335IS. It looks sexy and is powerful as hell for daily driving.
Honestly your best bet is a E90/E92 with a N55. Those are the 2011-2013 335i with the N55 engine and you should get them for daily cheap because they are a couple generations old now with the release of the 340i. The N54 is nothing but trouble and even at a independent shop its going to be expensive as fukk. Trust me I had one for 4+ years and the first 3 were phenomenal but then shyt just starts to go bad.
What the budget you are looking at?

Budget is pretty limited. 30k max. Saw this 335is and can't understand why it's so low. My only guess is that it looks like none of the packages were added on.

Thanks. I read somewhere that the warranties aren't transferable anymore. Is that real? Seems like some real bullshyt from BMW if true.Thats pretty standard for a 335is.
The new 3/4 series are getting new headlights which make the E92 almost 2 generations old.
335i in general dropped a considerable amount due the 340i replacing the 335i recently. And a new 3/4 series is supposed to be out 2018.
Theres nothing wrong with getting the car you posted. It should still be under warranty since BMW has a 5Y 50K warranty which is usually transferable. But try to get a extended one if you can. The 335is has different rims and a M body kit which will be costly on a N55 335i.

Yeah I think I'm just gonna hold out on a certified 335is. Appreciate all the insight.Last year when I went to lease my car they said they are doing away the 50K mileage warranty on 2017. 2014 and on, only the original owners get the factory warranty.
2013 model and before should be okay although it will be ending real soon. If you must then get a CPO one. It will save a ton of headache and it's squally worth it.

I've thought about it, but it just might be a little out of my price range in terms of the miles I'm looking at. Also, aren't the maintenance costs on those pretty high? I hear just the oil itself for an oil change is 100 bucks. You should look at e92 M3. If your budget allows you can get one any where from around 23k-40k depending on the years and miles. You also can get a third party warranty if you need the peace of mind. Now the MPG sucks but it such a fun car to drive everyday. Luckily my commute is only 16 miles round trip. If I was at my last job (50 miles round trip) I wouldn't even dare owning this car.
