Clear coat is a thin clear layer of... I dunno shiny shyt that rests atop the paint to protect it. It's what makes your car shiny when it's clean. A white car will definitely hide a lot of clearcoat damage but in the right lighting you'll probably see swirl marks out the ass all over your whip.

This is an extreme example but this is what a clearcoat that's been damaged over years of bad washes will look like.

First, only wash your car by hand with wool using two-bucket method. The type of soap you use probably doesn't matter much.
Then, use a non-abraisve paint cleaner. I like P21S.
Then hit it with a good polish. Meguiar's G10307 ScratchX would be my choice.
Then wax it with any carnuba wax.

Repeat the paint cleaner / polish every 3 months till the swirl marks clear up. Keep waxing your car every 3 months forever to protect clear coat.

Your shyt will literally glow after this.

Welp got nothing to lose. I like getting things done by myself and I'm too cheap to get it professionally done

When is the best time to polish and wax so I can see the scratches? Night?

You can see them anytime if theyre there. Look at the paint at an angle where the light source bounces off. You might be fine but those brushes tend to be harsh.

Waxing is dated and its too much work. Get a paint correction and ceramic pro on your car. It pays for itself and your car will always have that high gloss look.

How much is ceramic pro? Did you do it yourself? I'm getting my car painted soon. Peeped it on YouTube, I'm interested.

I'm moving back to Socal this summer and i'm pretty set on selling my g8 gt and getting a E92 M3. would love the M4 but don't think i wanna spend the money, these 435i looking nice too with the m-sport package, plus with mods/tune it can run a e92 M3 but its not a M3, that s65 engine is amazing, that redline:ohlawd:. what ya'll brehs think? stick with the M3 or go 435i?
F80s and F82s are everywhere now. Plus the body style will be changing soon. I'd cop the E92 if you can afford the maintenance, or just wait for the next gen.
