Hell no I'm not racing.
Keeping up with maintenance like what exactly?

Sorry if I sound
like a novice.... This is my second car
don't worry my bmw was the first car i ever bought.
keep up with oil changes, brakes, other fluids. Keep good quality tires on the car.
if the car out of warranty find a good indy mechanic to work on the car. the stealership is expensive.

If you have a garage you can do all the mantaince yourself. YouTube taught me how to do an oil change and brake job.
Do you know what options your car has?
Once you had that car for awhile. Step into a M car. They are even crazier. Expensive but they are so much fun to drive.

annual? also is owning a CPO warranty 328i/320i worth it after warranty runs out? Extended warranty worth it?
only had that bmw for a 11 months before i sold it for another bmw, so i can't really answer how much it would have cost me. The warranty game is iffy to me. But some people have them for a peace of mind. I just keep a big enough emergency fund for repairs if needed.

Is it possible for 3series BMW's to have constantly high repair costs ?

parts will wear out and break but if you keep taking the car to a dealership you will have high repair cost. the parts are not the expensive part, it is the labor that gets most people. It going to be more expensive than your regular honda but shouldn't be more expensive than a m3 or a 5 or 7 series.

What's the solution? Find an independent mechanic or purchase an extended warranty ?

that a question you have to ask yourself. Look how much an extended warranty cost and how much coverage does it provide. I seen some crazy warranty that only cover 2 years and 24k miles. If a warranty is a big factory in your purchase go to an actually bmw dealership and buy a certified pre owned car. Certified pre owned cars should get you an extra 4 year or 50k miles of warranty.

Still find a indy shop because wear and tear items are not covered by an extended warranty.

I had a m3 which didn't have a warranty and for the most part it was super reliable, now a m4 that is certified pre owned.
