Tips on acquiring a bimmer?
what version are looking to get, coupe, hatchback, truck?
used or new? if used, whats the maximum mileage?
get a PPI done on it before you buy it. Main issues are Throttle actuator which can be a 2k repair and a small percentage of people had rod bearing issues which resulted in a new or used motor. Either an extended warranty will cover those parts when they go or you can just change those parts for preventative maintenance. I bought my m3 back in December with 78k miles, it now has 91k miles and I enjoyed ever since mile I have driven it. I paid 2.3k to have my rod bearings changed, the original ones still looked good but I wasn't going to take the risk of spinning a rod. My friend spun a rod in his 08 M3 which resulted him to buy a used 2013 motor for his car.M3, coupe, used, 65k, I think.
Mine survived D.C. winters so what's up?Anyone have one in a cold weather climate? Like New York?

After the first winter, I made it a must to go get the winterized service package. Don't remember if it was from the dealer or this outside shop that was top notch. Got snow tires. My battery kept going out that first winter. As far as aesthetics, got it waxed in the fall then once again in the spring. Salt did a number on my clear coat. Keep a shovel and ice melt in the trunk. Outside of getting it serviced, wasn't much else to do unless you want to get a block heater added to your shyt but really unnecessary unless you live in Alaska or upstate NYAny tips on maintaining it outside of the usual? Sorry if it seems like a silly question.
Where did you get your clear coat and how much did it cost you? These DC roads have beat up my front bumper to the point I need to get it re painted. After the first winter, I made it a must to go get the winterized service package.
