The thing with Mueller is he isn't a superhero, who ran the whole case, he was more like the US Attorney in charge of a team of prosecutors, he made the final calls and presided over the whole thing, but he wasn't a day to day guy. He isn't a trial lawyer or prosecutor anymore. I think he has aged, and the span of the case, in addition to it's length, made him seem more confused than he was. The only moment he looked shaky, was when he blanked on conspiracy.

Mueller is either washed which is possible, or he did that act on purpose

So, you think it's an Emperor has no clothes sort of situation? Mueller was sharp and responsive whenever the legalese was concerned, and seemed dismissive, uninterested, or confused on anything else.

Even though @Jhoon trolls, he always brings up how they all eat from the same trough. Mueller was always a Republican and by the book guy. I can buy him playing a confused old man to pretty much cover his ass and keep punting to Congress. What I cant buy is a guy who was so sharp he quote the minute details of a case he had nothing to do with to someone he assigned it to all of the sudden freezing on the big stage.
