Dems in the House could vote to impeach every day from January 4th until January 2021 and it wouldn't matter because there aren't 20 Republican Senators who will have a change of heart when it comes to Trump, even if he puts a copy of the constitution in a bible, wraps it around the American flag, douses it with gasoline, lights it on fire, and publicly sings about how much he loves abortions.

I think its more about political strategy than caring about R's feelings.

You have to think going into 2020, what are they R's going to run on? Their same general platform? Trump doesn't represent any of that. Border wall and security? He couldn't accomplish that in his first 4 years, how is going to accomplish it in another 4 when he likely won't have either house of congress. They want to politically starve the R party. Tariffs and the tax cuts are going to almost certainly get him primaried. The D's have their eyes set on trying to grab the Senate to completely control congress.

1. There's not a chance in all fukk Trump gets primaried.

2. It's bad political strategy to tell your base, "We're not going to impeach Trump, we're good. Thanks for playing though. Please come again in 2 years." What's the point of the House investigating Trump, calling Cohen to testify, destroying half of what's left of the Amazon Rainforest to print out the ten trillion subpoenas they just issued last week, if they don't intend to do anything with the information they uncover? This is similiar to Obama refusing to hold Bush cronies responsible for war crimes or letting those with a hand in the '08 financial collapse skate unscathed, except in this case, the crimes you're turning a blind eye to are far more dangerous to the stability of the democracy.

3. How is forcing Republicans to publicly defend in televised hearings Trump's blatant undeniable criminal activities not a prudent political strategy? You're telling me that's a weaker play than spitting in your voters' eyes and crossing your fingers HOPING you regain the Senate and he's not reelected? We don't even have the slightest idea who the Dem candidate might even be yet and Pelosi is already talking this kid gloves shyt.

If House dems are unwilling to do what got them elected, turnout will drop again. It's that simple.

If the Dems vote to impeach Trump there's a 1000% chance that the Republicans will vote against removing him from office, and then Trump will say he's been cleared of any wrongdoing. So I'm just not sure how it would help the situation.

You impeach so you can present the evidence of his crimes in the open. Let them mount a defense in the trial and then let the Republicans get on the record as voting to protect Trump.

After that, you make your case of GOP criminality and corruption to the American people. It's simple. At the end of the day, all we are asking for is people who are willing to fight - win or lose.
