Swagger was brought in to be Jericho's Goon and that's about it. Only reason he got that title shot against Moxley was because it happened early on in the pandemic during that run of taped shows where they had a limited amount of people on their roster.

but every post I see about how it’s gonna go bad, how his promo was bad, it won’t work in 2 weeks, the crowd will grow tired of him etc. is ALL coming from the biggest AEW fans on this site. Like 99.99999% of it. All AEW stans. that’s by design.

Because nobody wanted him to leave, they just wanted the character to evolve.

Cody's relationship with the AEW crowd was not unlike what Roman's was before he turned. The WWE crowd shytted all over Roman for a while. Not because they disliked him, but because the character was stale. WWE was insistent upon running "The BIG DAWG" gimmick way past its expiration date and the crowd pushed back.

Same thing with Cody. Fans don't hate him. At all. They just wanted to see something other than the white meat babyface. They wanted to see something other than the, "I'm muh daddys boy ," promos. Rather than evolve the character, Cody stood in the ring and told everyone that he wasn't going to change anything. Then, he left for WWE where, in his first two appearances, we're seeing the same Cody that got booed out of the building numerous times in AEW.

Who is saying we want him to fail? He can get every belt over there as long as the people who enjoy him are cool w it who cares? Im speakin on his character, I dont even watch wwe i popped back in for mania because of Austin and im back out unless him or the rock doing something.
