Dude' s out here hustling and in demand from all the major non WWE companies in the US and UK and getting into acting with his Arrow gig and moving to LA.
To me he's done better than most of these Ex WWE guys who leave and you dont hear at all about where they go on the indies. Yes a couple of his gigs are with companies in the shytter but thats not on him

For some reason ever since word got out that he won the Jarrett's belt, people are placing the L on him and Im sitting like here like "Yo he's free to rome any company he's want and essentially get upper card to main event booking. Its not like he's tied to that promotion" this is not bad at all. And even his matches with Kurt were mediocre dudes grinding after leaving just 6 months ago and is like a sought after indie wrestler. This is kind of how build your rep back up, Alberto did it and Drew Galloway did it after they left WWE and had their profile and pay raised for it.

He's been all over the place on the indies, PWG, TNA, ROH, GFW (laff) and has had two matches with Kurt Angle.

I haven't seen most of these matches, but from what I can tell none of it has really stood out, not even his matches with Kang Kurt. Has he had any match that would even crack a top 50 of 2016 list?

Character wise, seems like he really has no gimmick, he's basically just a generic Indy dude living off the fact that he's Cody Rhodes, ex-WWE superstar. I don't think anyone expected him to churn out 5-star matches on the regular, but he seems to have some charisma so his character is where he really should be trying to shine on the indies.

His claim to fame seems to be winning some trash GFW title from Double J and defending it in elementary school gyms

shyt's sad. I'm really not trying to trash on dude cause he seems like he loves the business, and pops is obviously a legend, but this is looking like another Damien Sandow case of a guy who really overvalues his worth.

I still care but I'm a casual fan of the indies so his name appears on all the stories and results I read.

On the last part of your post, it all depends on what your goals are. I once posted a poll asking whether people would rather be a WWE midcarder or indie main eventer and TSC overwhelmingly voted for WWE midcarder. So I think most people will agree with you on here.

Seems to me that by keeping his options open instead of signing exclusively to ROH, LU, or TNA, he's lost some luster though.

Just won the WCPW internet title

Ready to see what he does in ROH and NJPW.

Kurt Angle match was just ok but thats to be expected from Angle matches honestly

Dude is killing it everywhere and is a legit independent star and is making a living without the McMahons. That in it self deserves praise. I'm glad he allowing himself to grow as a performer and getting acting roles.

TBH name/recognition wise it was lateral move but hes free and wasn't getting respected so he took his talents elsewhere.

I wish others had dudes hustle and vision cause the business would be in a better place.

Also, people, he's been able to work for other companies for 3 months. Ya'll need to chill with asking where all the classics are already :heh: AJ didn't even start in NJPW until 4 months after he left TBA, and Cody still hasnt even started in ROH, yet. Let's talk about Cody when he has an actual body of work to speak on, not about 15 random stay-busy matches like he has now

I don't get the hate. Dude is showing his passion for the business everywhere he goes while having decent to good matches and not just living off his name. If he stuck around in WWE he would still be getting killed in threads for those wack Stardust segments.

Outside of a storyline with Randy Orton, there was never reason to care. Hes a solid mechanic, but never came close to drawing a nickel. Or my interest
