They straight up got rid of the chubby black girl from the first two seasons with the excuse that her family fled town. I wonder if it was actually a contract dispute or something.

You gotta remember that season 3 was filmed for YouTube Red. There were some characters from S1 that went missing from S2, like that girl Demetri was simping & ended up making out with in this season. The series is now backed by Netflix, so they should have more money to spend.

I missed Aisha too. At first I heard that she had some health problems. But I don’t know. There were definitely issues during season 2 where her boyfriend was driving her car drunk and they totaled her car. She started a gofundme page after apparently burning through her money. It seemed a while back from what I looked up that she didn’t wanna do S3. But today I’m reading the show-runners didn’t write a part for her in season 3, but have a door open for her to return.
:dwillhuh:
The whole thing seems a bit confusing. I imagine there was probably some drama and/or a lot of info that we don’t have. She was too big a role for the decision to leave her out of S3 to be a purely creative decision

Also, Netflix having the show now should shorten the time in between seasons. There was a long layoff in between season 2 and 3 before Netflix even picked up the show, and a ton of time where there was no writing, no filming, no contract negotiations, etc.

I imagine the numbers/ratings once they added seasons 1 and 2 to Netflix (and now with season 3) have determined a lot about how much money is put into season 4.

Hopefully things run a lot smoother now.

I've always said it's a miracle that this show has made it this far. On paper it never should've been any good, let alone have any solid love from the critics and strong viewership/fandom.

I think there's one more season left in it at the most, though, since they're about to get into mining "Karate Kid 3" material.
