I don't know if it was worth writing an article about it, but I do wonder why Punk works so hard at trying to prove he's smarter than everyone else, mostly on Twitter.

He does come off as insecure sometimes. Maybe even a lot of the time.

Good performer, though. That's all I care about.

Terrible article. I have no issue with Punk but for some reason he does spout off at people as if he's on a Rock or Austin or Hogan level and in the meantime the ratings keep coming in and week after week Punk is actually losing viewers.

WWE has tried everything they can to help this guy reach and achieve stardom and it's just not working.

You do have to consider that Meltzer isn't always "fair and balanced", if he is ever. It'd be virtually impossible to be, to be fair.

Some wrestlers get off on divulging inside information to the dirt sheets, while others don't talk to them at all. There's a lot of middle ground of course.

I really don't understand this obsession with :duck: regarding Punk and ratings...

I always feel he is. He gives everyone a fair shot, and says when a segment sucks no matter what. It is his opinion though.

But, for example, for you Shawn Michaels supporters, he lambasts Michaels drawing power in the mid 90s but still thinks he is one of the best wrestlers ever.

For the CM Punk fans, he does think Punk is great, but notes how he is probably the lowest rated/watched WWE Champions in the last 15 years (and backs that up with facts/numbers).

He's good with numbers, but anybody can do that. I'm talking more of the backstage gossip type stuff. For example, Matt Hardy was a Meltzer source but Edge wasn't. Same goes for Bret and HBK. Same goes for Flair and Dusty. There's other examples I'm sure. Hogan didn't burn an Observer on TV for no reason.
