SAS is the Executive Producer of FT. That means the network trusts him HEAVILY as the person who make decisions on who appears on camera, who is apart of the off Camera crew and the topics debated.

The same way Skip told Jamie (Horowitz) he wouldn't do Undisputed unless Shannon got the shot (and he isn't even the EP of that show) is the same way SAS (who is the EP of his show) directly controls who is on the show and who aint on FT.

I'm not operating on conjecture I'm operating on the facts of how that industry runs, who's running things currently, the playbook many corporate types operate out of, and SAS history.

I think SAS is very good at what he does which is by his own admission to "make as much money as possible for the bosses and figure out how I can get some of it."
That's kind of moving goalpost from your original point. SAS doesn't have that type of sway at the network to help someone get their own show. Showing up on FT and Get up is one thing, but getting a show on their own? Nahhhhhhh he don't have the juice like that.

If he had that type of sway, then he would have had them not sign McAfee as he's been going through a career crisis every since that deal went donw.

Did y'all hear what Stephen A Smith said?. He said when I first got to first take there was nothing but white folks. He said where the brothas and sistas at? you don't think I'm going to be sitting here working with a bunch of white folks? That's the kind of stuff I wish I could say. I'm definitely a fan

I think SAS is very self serving when it comes to the industry. If it doesn't help him then he doesn't do it. Skip is the same way. SAS couldve used his weight to add Shannon to another show (which is what works best for Shannon) but he added him on a show that's already crowded but he has full control of (First Take).

SAS didn't do this because he likes Shannon so much. He did it to keep a threat under his own management. This way if Shannon wants to leave First Take or SAS gets irritated with him, Shannon has nowhere to go on ESPN.

I've worked in corporate for 15 years, "industry friends" aren't friends in the industry they are just people in the industry you can vend to your agenda easily.

This is a chess move for SAS personal goals as a broadcaster, not a charity move.

Lol I think you got it twisted on who's bigger or who needs who. Shannon is the one with a podcast approaching 2M subs and does over a mil views per clip. Shannon is the one with a lot of entertainment industry connects. Shannon or "Unc" is the one with social media clout from a younger audience. Make no mistake, SAS wants to be where Shannon is right now.

You're living in the past with how relevant ESPN is...he doesn't need to get "big" on there (not like SAS can prevent that anyway).

ESPN looks like it's fallen off compared to lets say Disney Channel but compared to sports channels they are the Kings and its not even close. There are few if any shows outside the Herd that FS1 has that have ever beat an ESPN show in the same timeslot. Shannon left the second biggest show on the second tier sports network.

FT gets more combined views per episode in TV and streaming than all the other show types Shannons appeared on (including the podcast). Shannon could've gone indy with his podcast after FS1 but he didn't, he signed to Volume (Collin Cowherds content network). That tells me Shannon likely wants a system to play in (right now anyway) over truly going it alone.

Here's the other way SAS is in a place Shannon isn't. SAS has alot of power behind the camera with his ESPN history and as the EP for FT. Shannon's power in the industry is as an on air personality not as a show producer. Shannon has had very liitle say over who appears with him on air or the subjects. I think Shannon would take that type of industry power over being cool with some athletes and going viral from time to time.

If I stated or implied SAS can get someone else there own personal show by himself, my bad, because I don't think he has that power. Can he get someone like Shannon in the conversation to be on someone else's show? I think so.

But even though that's what's best for Shannon (to be a heavy guest on someone else's show) he chose instead to get him a small part on FT that is way beneath his capability that is similar to after Shannon got cut from CBS.

My original point is that SAS ain't doing this to help Shannon because this ain't the best way to help him. But this is a very good way to help SAS.

I had a whole response ready to type out, but I changed my mind lol. Basically what I'm seeing is that you haven't adjusted to the new paradigm of sports entertainment and still ESPN is king because of hollow "ratings". The game is rapidly changing and the smart ones adjust. You say SAS has all this power, but this was a man that was not invited to a party with athletes and celebs/insiders...and publicly cried about it lol. Real power is having your own brand and connecting with the movers n shakers for bigger opportunities.

You seem to think Shannon took a 'demotion' but he has the best of many worlds: he gets to keep his name out there on a well known show, expand his audience, get a bag, have a flexible schedule and continue to build his own brand in entertainment. He's doing it the right way...him getting his own show and being under the thumb of ESPN for years would be a loss.

If ESPN offered Shannon his own show with own show money on their network he'd take it tomorrow.
